Published

on

Finally, after weeks and weeks of silence, Samsung and its US carrier partners have confirmed official the Galaxy S6 release date, storage, colors, and the Galaxy S6 price. With the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge release date just weeks away, we want to rundown all of the important details for prospective Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S6 buyers in the United States.

On March 1st, Samsung took the stage at Mobile World Congress 2015 to announce the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, two new flagships that replace last year’s Galaxy S5. On stage, Samsung confirmed many important Galaxy S6 release details including Galaxy S6 specs, Galaxy S6 accessories, and an April 10th Galaxy S6 release date for both models.

While it did confirm a number of key details, it also left some other important information out of its initial announcement and for the last three weeks, prospective Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge buyers in the United States have been looking for answers. Today, US Galaxy S6 buyers finally got the answers they’ve been looking for.

Samsung and several of its US carrier partners today announced key Galaxy S6 release date details including Galaxy S6 pre-orders, Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge release dates, storage, pricing, and more. They have not answered every single question but the most important information is now out on the table in plain view.

With that in mind, we want to take a look at the most important Galaxy S6 release date details buyers in the United States need to know about now. This will cover the Galaxy S6 release date, storage and more for carriers like AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and Sprint. The Galaxy S6 release is going to be big in the United States and there is a lot that prospective buyers need to know before April arrives.

AT&T Galaxy S6 Release Date, Storage & Price

Today, Samsung and its US carrier partners confirmed tons of important Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge details and unsurprisingly, AT&T was a part of those announcements.

The AT&T Galaxy S6 pre-orders for both the regular model and Galaxy S6 Edge will start tomorrow. The company says that pre-orders will be taken online and they will be taken in physical retail locations. Those looking to pre-order will be able to purchase either black, gold, or white Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge models.

The carrier will also be offering all six storage options which means that AT&T’s Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge lineup will look something like this on the AT&T Galaxy S6 release date:

  • AT&T Galaxy S6 32GB: AT&T Next 24 at $22.84/month
  • AT&T Galaxy S6 64GB: No details.
  • AT&T Galaxy S6 128GB: No details.
  • AT&T Galaxy S6 Edge 32GB: AT&T Next 24 at $27.17/month
  • AT&T Galaxy S6 Edge 64GB: No details.
  • AT&T Galaxy S6 Edge 128GB: No details.

AT&T did not, however, confirm a specific Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge release date leaving that wide open ahead of its pre-order date. We know that the start of the US Galaxy S6 release and Galaxy S6 Edge release will take place on April 10th so there’s a very good chance that AT&T will offer these phones right from the start.

We should find out more tomorrow when AT&T’s pre-orders begin. Typically, the carrier will offer a specific shipping date that corresponds to the actual release date. We’re guessing April 10th will be the day but we’ll have to wait for an announcement.

Sprint Galaxy S6 Release Date, Storage & Price

The Now Network also joined in on today’s announcements and it, like AT&T, will start taking Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 pre-orders starting tomorrow, March 27th. The carrier will be taking pre-orders for the device online and it should also allow consumers to walk into a store to place an order ahead of its Galaxy S6 release dates.

Those looking to pre-order a Sprint Galaxy S6 or Sprint Galaxy S6 Edge will be able to purchase either black, gold, or white Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge models.

Exciting Galaxy S6 Cases

We’re still not entirely sure how much Sprint will charge for the two devices (we will find out soon) though we do have a Sprint Galaxy S6 release date confirmed for both the regular model and the Galaxy S6 Edge.

Sprint says that both the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge will arrive on April 10th, the first day of their availability. Sprint’s models will be available online, in Sprint retail locations, and at retailers like Amazon and Best Buy.

T-Mobile Galaxy S6 Release Date, Storage & Price

The UnCarrier announced its Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge release plans today and most of the details line up perfectly with its rivals.

T-Mobile will put both devices up for pre-order tomorrow though those pre-orders will be limited to the black and white Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge models. The company says that it plans to offer the gold versions of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge and they should get inventory no later than April 10th, the day that these phones will be released.

The carrier will not offer these devices on-contract which means that the T-Mobile Galaxy S6 price breakdown is going to look a little different than other US carriers. Here’s how it’s looking right now:

  • T-Mobile Galaxy S6 32GB: $0 down + $28.33/month x 24: $679.92
  • T-Mobile Galaxy S6 64GB: $99.99 down + $27.50/month x 24: $759.99
  • T-Mobile Galaxy S6 128GB: $199.99 down + $27.50/month x 24: $859.99
  • T-Mobile Galaxy S6 Edge 32GB: $0 down + $32.49/month x 24: $779.76
  • T-Mobile Galaxy S6 Edge 64GB: $99.99 down + $31.66/month x 24: $859.83
  • T-Mobile Galaxy S6 Edge 128GB: $199.99 down + $31.66/month x 24: $959.83

The T-Mobile Galaxy S6 release date is confirmed for April 10th and the carrier notes that those that pre-order will get their device ahead of the April 10th date. Historically, we’ve seen pre-orders arrive a day or two ahead of time.

U.S. Cellular Galaxy S6 Release Date, Storage & Price

The nation’s fifth largest carrier is prepared to offer both the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge and U.S. Cellular told us that it will start offering pre-orders for both devices starting tomorrow, March 27th.

U.S. Cellular says that it will have the black and white options available though there is no mention of the gold Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge models. It’s not clear if it has any plans for other colors. It’s also, at least for the moment, passing on the 128GB Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge options. That leaves consumers with the 32GB and 64GB variants. Here’s how it breaks down:

  • U.S. Cellular Galaxy S6 32GB: $199 with 2-year contract; $680 full retail; $34/month x 20
  • U.S. Cellular Galaxy S6 64GB: $299 with 2-year contract; $770 full retail; $38.50/month x 20
  • U.S. Cellular Galaxy S6 Edge 32GB: $299 with 2-year contract; $790 full retail; $39.50/month x 20
  • U.S. Cellular Galaxy S6 Edge 64GB:  $399 with 2-year contract; $880 full retail; $44/month x 20

The carrier says that it will have these Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge available available on April 10th which probably means that they will be on sale in retail locations and online. No

Verizon Galaxy S6 Release Date, Storage & Price

Verizon’s notoriously difficult when it comes to smartphone release dates and it looks like the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge release date will suffer the same fate.

While Verizon announced a number of new details today, a Verizon Galaxy S6 release date is still not known. We will probably find out more on or around its confirmed April 1st pre-order date.

Galaxy-S6-10

The nation’s largest carrier says that it will be stocking both the white and black models, no mention of gold just yet, and that it will have both Galaxy S6 models available in four storage sizes. Here’s how that breaks down:

  • Verizon Galaxy S6 32GB: $199 with 2-year contract; $599.99 full retail; $24.99/month x 24
  • Verizon Galaxy S6 64GB: $299 with 2-year contract; $699.99 full retail; $29.16/month x 24
  • Verizon Galaxy S6 128GB: $399 with 2-year contract; $799.99 full retail; $33.33/month x 24
  • Verizon Galaxy S6 Edge 32GB: $299 with 2-year contract; $699.99 full retail; $29.16/month x 24
  • Verizon Galaxy S6 Edge 64GB: $399 with 2-year contract; $799.99 full retail; $33.33/month x 24
  • Verizon Galaxy S6 Edge 128GB: $499 with 2-year contract; $899.99 full retail; $37.49/month x 24

Smaller U.S. Carriers

Boost Mobile, Cricket Wireless and MetroPCS will all carry the Galaxy S6, the regular model, though we still don’t have any information about pricing or release date. Historically, smaller carriers have been second-in-line to major Android smartphone releases so we could see them release their wares a little later than April 10th.

Early Hands-on

Those looking to try the Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge will be able to do so ahead of the April 10th Galaxy S6 release date in the United States:

Consumers can get an exclusive first look at the Galaxy S 6 and Galaxy S 6 edge beginning March 27 at participating AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless and U.S. Cellular stores in addition to Samsung Experience Shops at Best Buy. A list of participating locations is available at www.samsung.com/galaxys6preview.

Buyers who want to try the devices out ahead of time will need to check out the link above to see if there are any participating carriers in the area. It’s not clear when Verizon will start offering hands-on time in its stores though we imagine that it will probably take place on or after April 1st.

Retailers

As a reminder, the Galaxy S6 will be stocked at a few different retail locations including Samsung Experience Shops at Best Buy, as well as Amazon.com, Costco Wholesale, Inc., Sam’s Club, Target and Walmart. We expect pricing and availability to mirror what carrier pricing and availability though we could see some Galaxy S6 deals emerge at places like Amazon and Walmart.

Galaxy S6 Deals

Retailers aren’t talking about Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge price drops just yet but we have spotted a few Galaxy S6 deals lurking around ahead of the April 10th release date in the US.

sprint-galaxy-s6

AT&T says that if you buy the Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge, you will save $50 on the Samsung Gear Circle, a Bluetooth headset. Those looking to take advantage must buy the phone on AT&T Next.

T-Mobile is throwing in a free year of Netflix to those buying the Galaxy S6 though orders must be placed before April 12th. And finally, Amazon is offering a Galaxy S6 accessory deal to those that sign up for more information about their Galaxy S6 release. 10% isn’t a ton but it’s a deal nonetheless.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Active Release Date & Specs

Galaxy S6 release rumors continue to point to the arrival of a Galaxy S6 Active.

According to SamMobile, Samsung is working on a new Galaxy S6 Active that will debut on AT&T in the United States. If the rumors are true, this is a device that is going to intrigue a lot of people.

AT&T’s Galaxy S6 Active (SM-G890A) will reportedly have a 5.1 inch Quad-HD 2560 x 1440 (2K) display, an 8-core Exynos 7420 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of on-board storage and a 16-megapixel rear and 5 megapixel front setup.

It will also be a little bit taller, a few millimeters wider, and slightly thicker. And there’s a reason for that. It will supposedly come with a much larger 3,500 mAh battery and an IP67 certification which will make it water and dust resistant like the Galaxy S5. Another rumor also suggests that it will come with a microSD card slot, something that the Galaxy S6 doesn’t have.

The Galaxy S6 Active release date is rumored for summer.
