iPhone 6s iOS 10.1.1 Update: 10 Things to Know After Five Weeks

The iOS 10.1.1 update’s days are numbered but it remains the most up-to-date version of iOS 10. With that in mind we list off the most important things to know about the iPhone 6s iOS 10.1.1 update as we push into the month of December.

Earlier this year, Apple released its iOS 10 operating system for the iPhone 6s and select iOS 9-powered devices. The update brought key changes to the Messages app, 3D Touch, and Notes. It also brought some problems with it.

To combat these iOS 10 problems, Apple’s released several bug fixers including an iOS 10.1.1 update for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. The update is available for all iOS 10-powered devices including the iPhone 6s.

iPhone 6s vs iPhone 5se - 7

The iPhone 6s iOS 10.1.1 update is small if you’re coming to it from the iOS 10.1 update. If you’re coming from an older iOS update, like iOS 9, iOS 10.1.1 will be much bigger thanks to the features and fixes from Apple’s previous iOS 10 updates.

Today we want to go over the important things you need to know about the iOS 10.1.1 update if you’re an iPhone 6s owner.

This roundup offers our current impressions of the iPhone 6s iOS 10.1.1 update, a look at iPhone 6s iOS 10.1.1 problems, details about the iOS 10 downgrade, and more.

We’ll continue to update this roundup as we push toward the next iOS 10 update so keep an eye out for changes.

iPhone 6s iOS 10.1.1 Review

We've been using the iPhone 6s iOS 10.1 update for five full weeks now and we've been keeping an eye on key areas including battery life, connectivity, UI speed, and app performance. Here's what we've noticed during our five weeks with the iOS 10.1.1 update on board our iPhone 6s models.

Battery life is still solid. We haven't noticed any drain on any of the iPhone 6s models in our possession. They're all holding a solid charge at the five week mark.

We've tested the iPhone 6s and its iOS 10.1 update with several ISPs, routers and Bluetooth devices and we're still impressed with performance. All of our connections remain stable and we haven't noticed any weird drops or problems.

The iPhone 6s UI is still snappy with the iOS 10.1.1 update on board. We haven't noticed any lag when opening folders, Control Center/Notifications, or apps. The speed is about the same as it was with iOS 10.1 and iOS 10.0.2.

The iPhone 6s iOS 10.1.1 update feels extremely stable after five weeks of testing. We haven't encountered any random reboots or lockups. Both were issues for us on older versions of iOS 10.

The iPhone 6s iOS 10.1.1 update is definitely worth a look if you're already on iOS 10.1. If you're coming from Apple's iOS 9 update you'll want to snag a second or third opinion before making the move.

Some icons on my 6s require multiple touches to launch. Notable are Waze, and the camera icon in the swipe-up section (Control Center) is just not responding to touch…. 3-D touch is not affected.

After leaving my previous job 12 months ago, I’ve had some good luck to learn about this website which was a life-saver for me… They offer jobs for which people can work online from their house. My latest paycheck after working for them for 4 months was for $4500… Amazing thing about is that the only thing required is simple typing skills and access to internet.. The idiotic update now has my older email (Outlook) last in the thread not at the top/ first; stupid. I need the most recent at the top; why would someone mess with this, give me a break!

The update has problems with my headphone. Siri pops up by itself, podcasts stop and jumps around, etc.

I’ve not been able to call or receive calls since updating my phone a week ago. Everything else works, texts, internet, apps, etc. Just not calling or receiving calls. No Service. Did all the recommended steps from various sites, except going into an Apple Store (two hours away).

This update is horrible! I hate that you have to tap the button and get rid of stuff on the screen. Also things don’t line up, header blocks messages. As I was writing this a call was coming in but phone didn’t ring or vibrate. I hate when Apple does random updates when there were no issues to start with.

I cannot find how to turn off the TIMER, have tried everything. Only closing the app works, and then have to reopen to use again. Then cannot find SNOOZE in alarm. Something so basic as these two things….have noticed less battery life, terrible.

Since downloading the new iOS 10.0.2 on my iPhone 6s, I have not been able to text message, email, post to social media or search my contacts. My phone freezes anytime I try to use the keypad. There is nothing online that I can find to help me. I can’t restore my phone because I can’t type in my apple password to turn off “Find My iPhone.” I can’t win. I never had any trouble with my phone before this update. I wish I never download 10.0.2.

    Sluggish OS
Have to kill apps it hangs so much
Email thread change hard to see conversation
    Did I say slow?
Take longer to turn off (not snooze) alarm

I see changes but I still have to see the positive in productivity yet… maybe will find some??

Update is HORRIBLE!!!!! I can’t connect to mobile data OR wifi in my house. When I go outside my house, then I start getting notifications. Apps not working, not showing up in App Store searches…which I can’t search at home. Can’t get emails when I am at home. Apps won’t load after multiple wipes, etc. They ought to be ashamed of themselves and heads should be rolling. My phone is now next to useless.
