U.S. Cellular has announced that it will be launching its 4G LTE network in time for the holidays, the second piece of good news that U.S. Cellular customers have received this week.

The first bit of good news of course was the introduction of the LG Genesis, a dual-screen Android device that takes on the same form factor of the enV Pro on Verizon.

Now, the company appears ready to launch their 4G LTE network at some point during the holiday season with Des Moines, Cedar Rapids and Davenport, Iowa; Portland and Bangor, Maine; Greenville, North Carolina; and Madison and Racine, Wisconsin being the first cities to get it.

While U.S. Cellular doesn’t yet have any official 4G LTE devices, the carrier plans to announce a portfolio of 4G LTE enabled devices at some point during the first phase of deployment.

It’s unclear if that portfolio will include phones at the start. Remember, Verizon released 4G LTE modems before they released the HTC ThunderBolt.
