iOS 5 Said to Be Coming with Deep Twitter Integration

It’s not every day that someone like Robert Scoble makes a claim about  unreleased Apple software so when he opens his mouth about it, it’s news worthy. Now, Scoble isn’t saying much, but what he is saying is this. iOS 5 is going to be coming with Twitter integration deeper than just photo sharing and a button that sends tweets out to the Twitter universe.

iOS 5

For starters, here is what Scoble tweeted out, just in case you didn’t want to read the image:

Next week will be a huge week for those of us who have lived on Twitter for last few years. Apple is building Twitter in deeply into iOS5.

This isn’t the first time that a deep partnership with Twitter has been mentioned as one of the main features in iOS 5 but Scoble is an extremely connected source and if he says that this isn’t just a rumor and that he knows something, there there is indeed something brewing here between Apple and Twitter. Not even John Gruber is disputing what he said.

What exactly is the deep integration? Well, as Electronista points out, it could be anything from widgets to notifications to video sharing. Or all of those. No one knows for sure but luckily, we only have to wait until Monday to find out.

That of course is when Apple’s WWDC keynote begins and when Apple will be debuting iOS 5 for the world to see. Apple has already announced that it will also debut Mac OS X Lion and it’s cloud service, iCloud. However, Apple has never launched a major version of iOS without new hardware, so it’s possible that we could see a new iPhone shown off on Monday as well. Or not.
