Samsung Romania Outs Nexus 3 With Super AMOLED HD Display

Update: Samsung Mobile Romania has since issued a retraction to Mobilissimo saying that their PR agency published the tweet in error and that the information had not been officially confirmed by Samsung: Nexus smartphone was uploaded in error by our agency. It is based on a rumor and has not been officially confirmed by Samsung Romania. We apologize for any misunderstanding and confusion created accordingly. Thank you!

While there has been plenty of rumors and speculations in the past over what the next-generation Google Nexus smartphone will pack, Samsung Mobile in Romania has confirmed the device and its screen via Twitter. According to the official Samsung Romania Twitter account, production for the phone has yet to begin, and the phone will usher in Android 4.0–Ice Cream Sandwich–when it launches in late 2011.

Samsung, which makes the current Google Nexus S and Nexus S 4G for Sprint, will probably be the manufacturer behind the Nexus 3 or Nexus Prime, as it was previously rumored to be called, based on the fact that the company is tweeting about the product.

The company tweeted, “Yes, next Nexus will be Samsung,” and then adds that the display will be a Super AMOLED HD panel.

If true, the phone would pack a Super AMOLED (perhaps even a Super AMOLED Plus) screen with a staggering 720p HD resolution of 1280 X 720.

Interestingly, though, the tweet linked to Boy Genius Report’s article on the leak.
