Angry Birds Space Is A Hit

Published

on

In the three days since Rovio released it, Angry Birds Space has been downloaded over 10 million times, an impressive milestone for the latest installment to the Angry Birds franchise. The game was released on a host of platforms including iOS – iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Android, Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X. We should also see the game launch for Windows Phone in the future.

Rovio announced the feat on Twitter but did not break down the numbers.

The iOS application is a paid application and also comes in HD form for the iPad while the Android version is ad-supported but is free to download for smartphone and tablet users.

Angry Birds Space Hits 10 Million Downloads in Three Days

What’s clear is that the game has taken off mobile users, not surprising considering the popularity of Angry Birds, but impressive nonetheless.

The game is a twist on the usual game play found in Angry Birds – it adds in zero gravity which brings slow motion and lightning quick action – and brings new birds to the table as well.

You can see the Angry Birds Space in action below.

Rovio has confirmed that it will be releasing the game for Windows Phone users in the days ahead. It gave no release date but it did say that it was working on the game, this after a company executive had said that it would not be releasing the software for Microsoft’s platform.

With the success that the game has had on both iOS and Android, it seems that developing a game for Windows Phone would be a pretty logical move.

We’ll let you know when it arrives.

I guess this game is for kids. Looks pretty boring to me. Pigs in space? Really? Not going to take up space on my new iPad for this game even though the app store is marketing big time. Cool it the kids like it.
