Motorola Droid RAZR Mini Inches Closer to Launch on Verizon

Published

on

A miniature version of the Motorola Droid RAZR has passed through the FCC today on its way to Verizon’s high-speed 4G LTE network.

The Motorola XT907 has passed through the FCC today according to Engadget, which means that it has inched its way closer to a full-fledged launch on Verizon Wireless.

The filing reveals 4G LTE bands for Verizon as well as Near-Field Communication (NFC). The filing doesn’t, unfortunately, confirm any of the rumors surrounding the upcoming mid-range device.

Back in early July, the Droid RAZR Mini leaked out on camera and it appeared to be a lower-end device with a design based on the Droid RAZR. That leak did not reveal any of the device’s mysteries either leaving consumers looking for a solid mid-range option in the dark.

The Droid RAZR Mini has passed through the FCC today.

It appears to have the same Kevlar back as the original Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR MAXX and it appears to have a camera with a flash and an unknown megapixel count.

That being said, it looks like we could see some sort of official announcement in the not-so-distant future now that the device has received approval from the FCC.

It could be that Verizon is gearing up to launch the device at the same time as the Motorola Droid RAZR HD, another device that has passed through the FCC and also is destined for Verizon’s 4G LTE network. Verizon might be looking at launching the high-end device for the regular old $199.99 price tag and launch this mini RAZR option for much less.

We imagine that the Droid RAZR Mini will leak out to the surface soon and reveal itself.

The Motorola Droid RAZR HD has been rumored to be out in either October or November so that is a likely time frame for the release of the mini Droid RAZR.

We’ll let you know when we hear something for sure.
