Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Release Date, U.S. Carriers and Price Predictions

Published

on

Samsung announced the long-awaited Samsung Galaxy Note 2 phablet at an Unpacked event at IFA 2012 today and it shared all of the details about the Galaxy Note 2 including its hardware, software, and its design.

The company announced that the device would be heading to European, Asian, and Middle East markets sometime in October but unfortunately, Samsung remains quiet about three important pieces of information regarding the Galaxy Note 2.

Samsung did not share the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 U.S. release date, any U.S. carriers or the price of the Galaxy Note 2 in the United States. In fact, it didn’t share any pricing at all.

Samsung remained mum about U.S. Galaxy Note 2 details.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 U.S. Release Date

Samsung confirmed the Galaxy Note 2 release date in the United States will land sometime later in 2012 though it did not get into any specifics about the release date itself.

The company issued this statement in regards to a U.S. Galaxy Note 2 release date.

“Samsung Mobile is planning a U.S. version of Galaxy Note II, which will be available later in 2012. Building on the success of the original Galaxy Note, we’re confident that the Galaxy Note II continues to redefine what consumers should expect from their smartphone and delivers a powerful, innovative and unique experience. Exact timing and retail channel availability is not being announced at this time, we will continue to share information as it becomes available.

This is different from the Galaxy S III launch when the company said, out right, that the Galaxy S III would hit the U.S. in June.

So, this could mean that the Galaxy Note 2 could hit the United States in October like the rest of the world or, it could land as late as December 31st, New Year’s Eve.

AT&T’s original Galaxy Note launched months after the official launch.

We expect Samsung to bring the Galaxy Note 2 to the United States ahead of the holidays so at this point, November seems like a likely release month.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 U.S. Carriers

Like the U.S. release date, Samsung did not announce the Galaxy Note 2 for any U.S. carriers and thus far, no U.S. carrier has confirmed the Galaxy Note 2 for its network.

And unlike the Galaxy S III launch, we don’t have any rumors to speak of as far as U.S. carriers are concerned.

I have already discussed, at length, what carriers I expect the Galaxy Note 2 to land on in the United States.

  • AT&T: It carried the original Galaxy Note, so it will likely carry the Galaxy Note 2.
  • Sprint: Sprint was rumored to be getting the Galaxy Note, and with a 4G LTE network finally in place, chances are, it will get the Galaxy Note 2.
  • T-Mobile: It may launch the Galaxy Note 2 now that the future of its Galaxy Note remains unclear.
  • Verizon: With the biggest 4G LTE network, Verizon seems like a likely destination for the Galaxy Note 2. However, the carrier is rumored to be getting two big screened smartphones from LG and HTC which could foil those plans.

Might T-Mobile see the Galaxy Note 2 at launch?

It’s also possible that the Galaxy Note 2 could land on a smaller regional carrier like U.S. Cellular, which has the Galaxy S III, but at this point, all of the details remain in the shadows.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Price

Right now, nothing is currently known about the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 price. The company didn’t even make that information available for the markets that will see the device launch in October. It something similar with the launch of the Galaxy S III so this was to be expected.

We however do know is that Samsung will offer three distinct models of the Galaxy Note 2, 16GB, 32GB and 64GB.

The AT&T version of the Galaxy Note launched for $299 on-contract. However, that was at a time when it could charge a premium for 4G LTE devices.

With 4G LTE now more prevalent than ever and Apple rumored to be launching a 4G LTE equipped iPhone 5, I expect the price of the Galaxy Note 2 to arrive lower than that.

LG plans to launch a 5-inch Galaxy Note 2 competitor on Verizon called the LG Intuition and its priced at $199.99 on-contract. S-Pen and all, the Galaxy Note 2 might match it in price.

  • Galaxy Note 2 16GB – $199
  • Galaxy Note 2 32GB – $299
  • Galaxy Note 2 64GB – $399

It’s also possible that could see the devices $50 more expensive than that though I suspect Samsung will want to stay competitive, even with the microSD card support.

Agreed. I am already off contract with Verizon waiting to jump to another carrier, if Verizon doesn’t offer the Note.

I was in a Verizon store today and one of its representative said to me that they will get the Note 2 along with the LG. He, however did not give me a date for the launch, but was adamant about the launch.

I already looked up my ETF for my Verizon line and I will pay it and leave Verizon for whoever carries the Note 2.

My contract is up with Verizon also. After 20+ years with Verizon, I will say adios if they don’t get the Note 2 when released to the US marketplace.

I’m done “waiting” for Big Red to get the bloody Note. (or any cool phone for that matter)….I jumped to AT&T (wanted to go to T-Mobile but they are Out-of-Stock of the Notes and didn’t work as good as AT&T in my hood). Plus, AT&T has refurbed Note’s for $49.99…..my buddy has one and can’t tell it’s refurbed. It looks new to me, has full warranty and is friggin slick! So I did the jump and AT&T has been very cool, split my out-of-pocket expenses (we moved 6 phones from Verizon to AT&T) and even ‘threw’ some phones in for the kiddos (all smartphones). Can’t wait to get them!! Don’t wait for Verizon……jump now!

I’ve been saying the same thing….been a long time Verizon customer, very satisfied, haven’t wanted to leave. Looks like we’re all on the same page…..if Verizon isn’t – WE’RE GONE!! I will have the Note 2, contracts up mid October if Verizon is without it.

I agree with all others above. Verizon didn’t get the iphone when it first came out which made many customers wait including myself. If Verizon doesn’t get the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, I’m moving to whoever carries the Note 2.

Wow, its so crazy to see Im not the only one that thought this way! Ive been off contract with verizon for almost a year now, waiting for this phone. I finally gave up and figured since I waited this long for the note, I might as well wait 2 more months for the note 2 and just jump ship.

Y’all, do what I did a few years ago, LEAVE VERIZON! Verizon has GREAT coverage, but AT&T has great coverage too! Also Verizons biggest issue is they don’t spend money to keep the customers they have happy. AT&T spends much money to keep everyone happy, keep updated and current phones and products, also I have came to find out the customer service at AT&T is AMAZING! Everytime I call my issue is resolved that same call, and my account is always credited in a heartbeat! I don’t have many issues with AT&T at all, compared to the issues I had with Verizon and all the rules they have had. Mind you I was with Verizon for 8 years and now with AT&T for 3 years. Please switch and do yourself a favor with having amazing service, and most of all current phones! If anyone has questions please feel free to ask me anything! : )

Verizon, you truly suck if you don’t get the Note 2. The LG Vu is barey of sufficient quality to scrap dog poo from my boots. The HTC DMX looks bulky and less than desireable.

Just get the phablet that everyone wants and carry whatever other crap ones you want and see what sells. Then you’ll find out you might want to listen to what your customers are demanding because your current phone buy has his head up his ass

I have bought my ATT note rooted and unlocked it. it took 10 minutes to do it. I’ve been using it with T-mobile for about a year and have no problems at all and very happy I got this “mobile office” in my pocket..
Can’t wait to get my hands on note II… hope it will be easy to root and unlock it as it was with “note I”.

Looks awesome! Looking forward to ditching that pitiful iPhone 4S and using one of these monsters. Any iPhone out there looks like a child’s toy compared to this thing.

Looks beautiful and resolutionary (lol) Can’t wait to replace my original Note with this one the larger stylus is great always thought this one is too skinny. I literally can’t even hold another phone especially my iphone4s without instantly wanting to throw it after owning my note they feel like a little kids phone.
