Verizon has approved the Droid RAZR HD and Droid RAZR MAXX HD Jelly Bean updates and they will be rolling out at some point next week according to the carrier. Verizon unfortunately did not provide a specific date.

In a sign that something was close, Verizon earlier today posted the Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR MAXX HD to its website which means that the updates have been approved and that Verizon is prepared to roll out them out.

Shortly afterward, Verizon confirmed the news saying that the updates are next and that they will be pushed out to owners of the Droid RAZR HD and Droid RAZR MAXX HD starting sometime next week. No official date was confirmed though Verizon did say that they would be rolling out in phases which means that for some owners, the wait for Jelly Bean could be long.

The Droid RAZR HD and Droid RAZR MAXX HD Jelly Bean updates will be rolling out next week.

Verizon typically rolls out its major Android updates rather slowly starting with a small group of owners. Then, after a few days, and possibly even as long as week or more, the update starts rolling out for the masses. This is typical and while it may handle it differently with these updates, this is what to expect from the Droid RAZR HD and Droid RAZR MAXX HD Jelly Bean updates.

The carrier confirmed that the updates will be Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and not Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, the latter of which is the latest update from Google. This should come as no surprise as some Nexus devices have yet to receive the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update.

Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is still a huge upgrade over Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and will bring a host of new features to the table included improved Notifications, updated suite of Google applications, better Browser and Calendar, and a smoother, faster UI amongst other things.

The update should be a sizable one so owners of the Droid RAZR HD and Droid RAZR MAXX HD should set aside some time to download and install the updates.
