The bootloader unlock method was released today on the XDA-Developers forum by Adam Outler and crew and it now means that those who wish to unlock the full potential of their 5.5-inch smartphone can now do so. The unlocked bootloader comes shortly after a root method for the Galaxy Note 2 on Verizon was released to the public. And while the root was expected, the bootloader unlock, this soon after its release, was not.

Fortunately, for those that are interested, there is a video tutorial that will help owners through the steps that it will take to get the bootloader unlocked and the Verizon Galaxy Note 2 ready for ROMs.

The process seems relatively easy for those that are used to tinkering around with their Android device as the method requires Odin, a ROM and some other tools, but those that aren’t so familiar may want to hold off until everything becomes a little more familiar. As noted in the video, there is always a chance that something could go wrong, and having a Verizon Galaxy Note 2 that doesn’t function as normal isn’t something that we wish upon anyone. So please, for those that are taking the plunge, be careful.

The Verizon Galaxy Note 2 bootloader has been unlocked.

For those that do follow the steps and unlock the bootloader, the Verizon Galaxy Note 2 will then become a tinkerer’s dream as it will be completely free from Verizon’s chains, something that has been a thorn in the side of Verizon users for quite some time. Verizon, unlike many of the other U.S. carriers, keeps its devices locked down tight which often makes unlocking the bootloader an extremely tough endeavor. So the fact that Outler and his team got the bootloader unlocked so quickly on the Verizon Galaxy Note 2 is pretty impressive.

The Verizon Galaxy Note 2 with its massive display, quad-core processor, Jelly Bean and 4G LTE data speeds was already an intriguing device. And now that the bootloader has been unlocked, it should pull in some more users in the near future as well.
