Samsung Galaxy S4 U.S. Release: Another Pre-Order Date Confirmed

Published

on

Regional 4G LTE carrier U.S. Cellular has announced that it will be taking Samsung Galaxy S4 pre-orders on April 16th, same as AT&T, but the carrier has still not disclosed two of the important details about its Galaxy S4, its pricing and its release date.

Earlier this month, Samsung announced the new Samsung Galaxy S4, a device that will be heading to shelves in April with a 5-inch display, quad-core processor, 13MP camera, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and Samsung’s smart features. We also know that it will be coming to AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular and Verizon. And while some carriers have been forthright with information, others remain mum.

The U.S. Cellular Galaxy S4 pre-order begins April 16th.

T-Mobile has already confirmed a Samsung Galaxy S4 U.S. release date for May 1st and we’ve seen AT&T announce that it’s taking pre-orders starting April 16th with a $250 price tag. Today, U.S. Cellular has thrown its name into the hat and announced that it’s taking pre-orders for the Galaxy S4 starting on April 16th as well.

Like AT&T, the carrier does not say when it will be releasing the Galaxy S4. Unlike AT&T, it did not confirm any pricing for the device which means that potential customers are still in the dark about that information.

AT&T also will be taking Galaxy S4 pre-orders on April 16th.

This confirmation means that the Galaxy S4 is the second U.S. carrier to announce a pre-order for the device following AT&T. T-Mobile has not yet announced a pre-order date and Sprint and Verizon have yet to release any information about their variants of the Samsung Galaxy S4.

Yesterday, we learned that the Samsung Galaxy S4 could go on sale in North America earlier than expected. Rogers in Canada is rumored to be getting the Galaxy S4 on April 19th. U.S. carriers often release devices close to their Canadian counterparts so it could be that we see some carriers release the Galaxy S4 earlier than T-Mobile’s May 1st date.

Whether U.S. Cellular does just that, remains to be seen.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 will be replacing the Samsung Galaxy S3 as the company’s flagship, joining the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 on shelves. It will be facing some serious competition not only from the Galaxy Note 2, but from phones like the HTC One, Sony Xperia Z and of course, it’s arch rival, Apple’s iPhone.
