A new Samsung Galaxy S4 is said to be on the way to AT&T’s network later this year as the SGH-I537, otherwise known as the Samsung Galaxy S4 Activ, a rugged version of the Galaxy S4 that has been rumored for arrival in July.

Samsung is rumored to be delivering two new Samsung Galaxy S4 models later in the year, followups to the flagship Samsung Galaxy S4 that recently in shelves in the United States and elsewhere. The Samsung Galaxy S4 Activ is apparently heading to AT&T.

The device is still hasn’t been fleshed out but a Samsung executive mentioned that it will be both dust and water resistant, both of which are characteristics of the Sony Xperia Z design and both of which are aimed at those who take their smartphone into rugged environments. The normal Galaxy S4 does not feature those with its design.

Rumors have pegged the Samsung Galaxy S4 Activ as launching in July with the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini and now it appears that we may have our first carrier for the rugged Galaxy S4.

The reliable @evleaks suggests that AT&T will be carrying the Galaxy S4 Activ under the model number SGH-I537. No other details were provided so it’s unclear just when AT&T might be announcing and releasing the Galaxy S4. If it does get the Activ, it would be the third different variant of the Galaxy S4 to hit AT&T.

Currently, the carrier is the only one in the United States with both the 16GB and 32GB Galaxy S4. Other carriers have, thus far, declined to offer a device with 32GB or 64GB of storage.

Other specifics in regards to the Galaxy S4 Activ remain unknown which means it’s unclear if the device will keep the same features as the Galaxy S4, including overall design, or if it will feature some minor differences.
