Nexus 7 Dock Vanishes Amidst Nexus 7 2 Rumors

The official Nexus 7 dock has mysteriously vanished from the Google Play Store, amidst rumors of a Nexus 7 2 launch taking place in July.

Earlier this year, Google put the official Nexus 7 dock on sale through its Google Play Store after conceding early sales to third-party retailers. The accessory unfortunately has had a bit of a bumpy ride on the Google Play Store as the device saw a lengthy period where it was unavailable to buy. The dock made itself available a few short weeks ago, however today, the accessory has gone missing again.

The Google Play Store currently does not list the Nexus 7 dock amongst the other Nexus 7 accessories that are on sale. A quick visit to the Nexus 7 dock page suggests that the device is currently not available on the United States version of the online shopping portal. That is far different language than the “Temporarily Out of Stock” tag that Google plastered on its page in weeks previous.

What this means for the Nexus 7 dock is unclear but given the language and the fact that a Nexus 7 2 is rumored for launch in July, it’s entirely possible that this is the last that we’ve seen of the Nexus 7 dock on the Google Play Store.

The disappearance could be a sign of good things to come. Or not.

Of course, its disappearance will lead to a number of theories. Theories like it wasn’t selling well, that a new Nexus 7 2 is on the way, or that Google simply will just rely on other outlets to carry the accessory. We’ve reached out to Google for comment but thus far, we haven’t heard back.

It’s hard to dispute the timing of the disappearance though. In July of last year, the Nexus 7 made its debut and rumors have suggested that a new high-powered Nexus 7 2 could emerge in the month of July to take on Apple’s iPad mini and rumored iPad mini 2.

That of course isn’t set in stone but thanks to the success of the original Nexus 7, it would be shocking to see Google pass up the opportunity to release another 7-inch tablet.

I am waiting for this new nexus 2 desperately. I was hoping that google the I/O would be a best time to release nexus 7 but that was disappointing. I am hoping that the Month of July will bring a good news.
