The Verizon HTC One is finally official and it will be landing on shelves in just a few days. And while Verizon announced the phone, it left out some key details, key details that is has now confirmed, shortly after the announcement.

After months and months of rumor and speculation, the Verizon HTC One finally has a release date, pricing and features. Verizon announced earlier today that it will be coming to shelves on August 22nd in stores and online and it will be doing so for $199.99 on-contract. The device will share features with the other HTC One models that arrived earlier this year, save for one.

Verizon confirmed to Gotta Be Mobile that the device will be running Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean right out of the box. While HTC has rolled out Android 4.2 to other HTC One models around the globe, the AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile models still do not have it. This is a little bonus for Verizon HTC One buyers as it means they will be running the HTC One’s latest software update and won’t have to wait for anything other than Android 4.3 and likely, Android 5.0.

It’s unclear just how long the perk will last though. HTC rolled out the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update several weeks ago and AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile should be closing in on updates for their devices. They have yet to announce release dates for Android 4.2 but we don’t expect them to. Instead, the roll outs should get announcements on the days that they arrive.

Verizon also confirmed that it would have a 32GB model available on release day and the carrier did not say whether it would offer anything other than that. The carrier also said that it would only confirm a silver color for its HTC One and that if that changes, it will be sure to let consumers know.

Rumors have suggested that the carrier will offer a blue HTC One but if that’s the case, the device apparently won’t be available when it arrives on shelves next week.

Ridiculous that they can’t confirm the colors.
