Nexus 4 Price Drops $100

Published

on

Google has dropped the Nexus 4 price down $100 ahead of the rumored iPhone 5C launch with the Nexus 4 8GB price now listed at $199 and the Nexus 4 16GB now listed at $250.

The price of the Nexus 4, which has remained at $299 and $350 on the Google Play Store since its arrival in November, has now been dropped down for the first time. The Nexus 4 8GB, which once cost $300, is now $200  while the Nexus 4 16GB, which was once listed at $350 unlocked, has been dropped all the way down to $250 unlocked.

These are huge discounts and they come shortly before Apple is expected to announce a new iPhone 5C, a cheap plastic iPhone that could challenge cheap Android smartphones like the Nexus 4.

The iPhone 5C is expected to debut on September 10th alongside the iPhone 5S though it’s not clear how much the device will cost or where it will be landing. Rumors suggest an unlocked price tag around $400 and release rumors have centered around markets like China where cheap phones rule the roost.

The price drop also comes on the heels of rumors about a Nexus 5, thought to be coming later this year with Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie. The device has been rumored to be coming from LG or Motorola.

That device isn’t thought to be arriving until October or November and Nexus devices typically leak out extensively ahead of time, meaning, this price drop is likely not tied into a new Nexus smartphone. Instead, it’s likely aimed at the iPhone 5C which is thought to be arriving on September 20th alongside the iPhone 5S.

Apple’s iPhone 5C is rumored to have a 4-inch Retina Display, iOS 7, Siri, a thin design, several color options, dual-core processor and an 8MP camera on board. The iPhone 5C is expected to have a cheap plastic shell instead of an aluminum one. It’s also likely to have 4G LTE, something Google’s Nexus 4 doesn’t possess.

Even so, the Nexus 4 is a top of the line Android phone, featuring high-end hardware paired with Google’s pure vanilla Android 4.3 software making it an attractive option and one of the iPhone 5C’s biggest competitors.

It’s unclear if the deal is temporary or if the Nexus 4 price drop will be permanent.

Guys check out the Cloud Service Copy. It is excellent and cheaper than Dropbox. Copy is the new Dropbox now. I use both currently, but Copy offers you more space for free than Dropbox. Both are good and both come with the desktop client to sync your files to their cloud servers. Check it out and use this link to sign up for Copy to get 20GB free instead of the regular 15GB
