Nexus 6 vs DROID Turbo: Size Comparison

The brand new Nexus 6 smartphone was announced last month and finally went up for pre-order last week, and potential buyers are still weighing their options and trying to decide if the large 5.96-inch screen is right for them. Here we’ll compare the Nexus 6 to its slightly smaller cousin, the Verizon DROID Turbo.

Now that we’ve received the Nexus 6 and posted our initial hands-on and impressions video, we’re getting a lot of questions from potential buyers regarding the sheer size of the device. Many questions asked how it looks compared to other big devices like the Note 4, but those on Verizon are likely debating between the Nexus 6, DROID Turbo, or the Note 4.

For months rumors suggested Motorola was making the Nexus 6, and that was confirmed last month by Google, and you can get one here sometime in November from most major carriers in the United States. Just like previous years Motorola has built Verizon a new DROID Turbo, the best one yet, and these are two excellent phones that are both available on Verizon. Yes, the Nexus 6 is coming to Verizon, eventually.

There is a lot to like about the brand new DROID Turbo, but the same can be said about Google’s Nexus 6. These are two flagship smartphones that have a lot to offer. From quad-hd displays, nice cameras, and big battery life with fast turbo charging capabilities.

The Nexus 6 is the first Nexus smartphone in years to be available on Verizon, so it’s understandable that many Verizon users are extremely excited about its arrival. We’re not sure when it coming, but hopefully before the end of November or in early December. The DROID Turbo is available now though, and if you’re on the fence regarding which to buy, hopefully the hands-on comparison video below will help out.

Both the DROID Turbo and Nexus 6 are made by Motorola, so they have a few similarities. However, unlike the Moto X, the DROID Turbo changed things up a bit. The 5.2-inch screen now matches the Nexus 6 with a 2560 x 1440 Quad-HD display, there’s only one front facing speaker instead of two, and the camera around back (rather than 13 megapixels like the N6 and Moto X) is boosted to a 21 megapixel sensor. These phones are somewhat similar, but one has a much smaller screen while also offering a larger battery. It’s safe to assume the DROID Turbo will have better battery life, but we’ve yet to fully test it to see if it matches the 48 hour claim made by Verizon’s recent commercials.

All said and done these are two impressive smartphones that should make any Verizon customer happy, and once we learn more details about the Verizon Nexus 6 release date we’ll be sure to update. The DROID Turbo is available now, and from the looks of things, the Nexus 6 might not hit Verizon until next month.
