on

If you’re interested in buying the Samsung Galaxy Note 5, you’re probably interested in the device’s release date or the day upon which you’ll be able to buy the device. A date isn’t confirmed but we have some leads and today we take a look at everything you need to know right now about the Galaxy Note 5 release date.

For months, Samsung Galaxy Note 5 rumors have hinted at a powerful Galaxy Note 4 successor and a challenger for Apple’s big screen iPhones. While those rumors started out vague, they’ve become more and more concrete as time has passed.

In the past two weeks, we’ve seen Galaxy Note 5 specs revealed, a potential Galaxy Note 5 launch date announced and a Galaxy Note 5 release date rumored. It’s an exciting time if you’re an Android enthusiast or someone who is looking to buy a brand new smartphone.

Samsung hasn’t confirmed the Galaxy Note 5 but thanks to this collection of leaks and rumors, we have a solid read on the device’s arrival. With an Unpacked event scheduled for August 13th and rumors swirling, we want to take an up close look at everything we know about the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 release date in the U.S. and abroad.

Galaxy Note 5 Release Date Announcement

If you’re free the morning of August 13th, you should tune into Samsung’s live stream of its Unpacked event in New York City. There, the company is expected to announce the Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 Edge+ and the new Gear A smartwatch. And it’s there that we’ll most likely hear about the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 release date.

Unpacked-Note

Samsung always announces release date information on stage during its launch events. Sometimes its vague, sometimes the information is very specific. We’re not sure what we’ll get from Samsung this time around but we still recommend tuning in next month to find out.

Galaxy Note 5 Release Date Details

Samsung probably won’t confirm the Galaxy Note 5 release date until its Unpacked event which means that up until then, you’ll need to rely on Galaxy Note 5 rumors. Fortunately, we’ve seen a number of credible Galaxy Note 5 release date rumors emerge and all of them point to an arrival in August.

SamMobile, a site with a solid track record, says that Samsung will release the Galaxy Note 5 alongside the Galaxy S6 Edge+ on August 21st. It’s not clear who will be getting the device that day though the site claims that “South Korea, China, Singapore, Hong Kong” will “definitely” be getting it in August.

Note-5-2

If this is true, and it could be, the Galaxy Note 5 release date will come much earlier than your typical Galaxy Note release date. Typically, Samsung releases the Galaxy Note in September, October or November ahead of the holiday shopping season.

Numerous reports indicate that Samsung is looking to put some space between the Galaxy Note 5 and the release of its new iPhone 6s.

U.S. Galaxy Note 5 Release Date

We don’t know if North America will be among the first to get the Galaxy Note 5. The door is certainly open for a quick US Galaxy Note 5 release date and here’s why.

Both the AT&T, Sprint and Verizon Galaxy Note 5 models have cruised through the FCC. As we’ve noted many times, this is much earlier than usual. We usually see FCC filings emerge on launch day or in the days/weeks after a device takes to the stage.

The fact that all three of these carriers have already gained clearance means that we could see them amongst the first carriers to offer the Samsung Galaxy Note 5.

We haven’t heard anything about a U.S. Cellular or T-Mobile Galaxy Note 5 release but we’re not betting against them at this point.

Staggered Release Date

Samsung historically has used a staggered release with its Galaxy Note. Some countries get it on day one, others get it days or even weeks after the initial release date. That could be the case here with the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 release date.

Note-5

According to reports, Samsung might be delaying the Galaxy Note 5 in Europe and Russia. Rumors of a delayed release in Russia continue to emerge and it looks like at least some people will be left out of the Galaxy Note 5’s release date.

Nothing is set in stone but those of you who live in those two regions will want to temper expectations as we move into August.

Galaxy Note 5 vs. iPhone 6s Release Date

Samsung is reportedly moving the Galaxy Note 5 release date up so that it gives the device some breathing room. Last year, the Galaxy Note 4 launched shortly before the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus but wasn’t released until after those two devices hit shelves. This year, it looks like the Galaxy Note 5 launch date and release date will beat Apple.

The iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are rumored to be in production ahead of their release alongside iOS 9 this fall. A specific release date hasn’t been called out but it does look like the release will take place sometime after September 8th and before the end of Apple’s fiscal year on September 28th.

The iPhone 6s Plus is expected to be a 5.5-inch challenger to the 5.7-inch Galaxy Note 5 and it’s a device that prospective buyers will want to keep an eye on as we move deeper into the year.

Galaxy Note 5 Pre-Orders

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 pre-orders haven’t started but pre-orders for Galaxy Note 5 accessories have. Spigen, a company that’s known for trying to grab headlines ahead of big smartphone release dates, currently has Galaxy Note 5 accessories on sale through its website. If you’re antsy, you can throw your cold hard cash down right now.

These accessories will almost certainly be released alongside the Galaxy Note 5 which, again, should be coming out sometime next month.

What We Expect from Samsung

Finally, we recently took at look at some things we expect from the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 release date. If this is your first Galaxy Note release, you’ll want to take a look at those expectations so that you can set yours accordingly.

10 Things to Do Before the Galaxy Note 5 Release Date

Research Your Galaxy Note 5 Storage Needs

Research Your Galaxy Note 5 Storage Needs

The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 isn't official yet but that doesn't mean that you can't prepare for its arrival. There are a number of things you can do ahead of Samsung's announcement and release and deciding on how much storage you might need is one of them.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 design is reportedly going to be similar to the Galaxy S6's. That means premium build materials but it also means no microSD card slot for expanded storage. If this is true, and it probably is, it's going to put pressure on you to figure out how much internal storage you'll need.

If Samsung's Galaxy Note 5 doesn't feature expandable storage, it'll likely come with several storage options. Those storage options will vary in price. You don't want to pay for storage that you're never going to need so you'll want to think about this ahead of time.

Take a look at your current device, think about how you might use your next phone, and estimate how much storage it will take to feel comfortable. For some of you, it might be 32GB. For others, it might be a 128GB of space.

We don't know how much the Galaxy Note 5 will come with yet but chances are we'll see some sort of combo featuring 32GB, 64GB and 128GB.
