2015 Nexus 5 Release: Everything Buyers Need to Know
Here in late 2015 buyers have a lot of choices when it comes to choosing an Android smartphone, but two more excellent phones are coming soon from Google themselves. Brand new devices being called the Nexus 5X and the Nexus 6P are set to be announced on September 29th, and we have all the details below.
Back in August images surfaced at the Google+ Nexus community claiming to be the new Nexus 5, and since then we’ve received a slew of details that all but confirm Google’s plan to stick to its annual release cycle and deliver new phones in October. Earlier today we shared some details about the Huawei Nexus 6, and now lets talk about the Nexus 5, which will reportedly be called the Nexus 5X.

For months on end small reports and rumors have been swirling regarding what Google has planned, but over the last few weeks everything came to light. We know almost exactly what to expect, what the new Nexus 5 and Nexus 6 look like, and even when they’ll be announced. Today multiple new photos surfaced at AndroidPolice that confirm everything we’ve heard so far.
LG built the original Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 in 2012 and 2013, but Google switched to Motorola last year for the huge 6-inch overpriced Nexus 6. It wasn’t the most successful Nexus release, even though it was Google’s first phone to be offered on all five major carriers in the United States. the $649 starting price tag put it out of reach for most. We’ve heard nothing about carrier support for the new Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P, but most likely Google will sell them directly, as well as on Amazon and a few retailers, with no carriers on board. But just like the new Moto X, these phones should work on all major carriers in the US, including Verizon.
This year though, Google has a completely different plan and has gone back to the basics. They’ve tapped LG again for the Nexus 5, and also added Huawei, a popular Chinese manufacturer to make the Nexus 6. This is a clear move by Google to follow the same release strategy as Samsung and Apple. That being release two phones, at two different sizes and varying prices to cater to as big of an audience as possible to capture more sales.
Come September 29th Google will officially announce the 5.2-inch LG Nexus 5X and the 5.7-inch Huawei Nexus 6P, and those names have been confirmed. Both phones look identical from the front, but are much different around back, and are clearly aimed at pushing the latest technology into Android smartphones.

It looks like Google’s making these developer devices again, rather than trying to compete directly with Samsung and Apple. We say this because the designs are somewhat plain and a bit boring, but both smartphones pack a punch and have all the latest and greatest technology here in late 2015.
With the September 29th announcement quickly coming, here’s everything buyers need to know about Google’s new 2015 Nexus 5X.
