10 Common Galaxy Android 5.1.1 Problems & How to Fix Them

Published

on

The Samsung Galaxy Android 5.1.1 update is still current on devices like the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy Note 4, and Galaxy S5 and it’s still causing problems. With that in mind, we take a look at some common Samsung Galaxy Android 5.1.1 problems and offer some potential solutions.

In late 2014, Google rolled out its Android 5.0 Lollipop update. Since then, the company’s rolled out several bug fix updates aimed at alleviating some of the problems that plagued Nexus devices and various other Android phones.

Google’s final Lollipop update is Android 5.1.1, a bug fix update that addresses lingering Lollipop problems and problems that Android 5.1 brought to Android users. It’s not widely available for Samsung’s Galaxy smartphones and tablets.

Over the course of 2015, Samsung pushed out Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy Note 4, and Galaxy S5 Android 5.1.1 updates in the United States.

Samsung’s Android 5.1.1 updates come with a series of fixes and enhancements that are aimed at stabilizing these flagships and curing them of their Lollipop ailments.

We’ve heard good things about the upgrades but we also continue to hear complaints about Samsung Galaxy Android 5.1.1 problems.

With that in mind, we want to take a look at some of these initial Samsung Galaxy Android 5.1.1 problems and offer some potential fixes for Galaxy users.

How to Fix Galaxy Android 5.1.1 Installation Problems

One of the Samsung Galaxy Android 5.1.1 problems that we’re hearing about has to do with the update’s install process. Some Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S5 users are saying that they’re unable to install the update on their device. Fortunately, this is a common problem, one that always pops up after new Galaxy Android updates.

Galaxy-S5-Review-4

One method that’s worked for us in the past is a quick cache partition clearance. It’s a bit tedious but it’s gotten several of our past Galaxy Android updates unstuck. We’ve put together a guide that will show you how to quickly and efficiently clear the cache partition on the Galaxy S5 and Galaxy S6. The steps are similar.

To clear the cache partition on the Galaxy S5:

  • Turn the Galaxy S5 off.
  • Press and hold Home, Power and Volume Down buttons simultaneously until the device vibrates.
  • When the Samsung logo appears, release them.
  • Tap Volume Down repeatedly until you Wipe Cache Partition. Select it with the power button. Select Yes.
  • Wait for the process to complete. It could take awhile.
  • Reboot your Galaxy S5.

To clear the cache partition on the Galaxy S6:

  • Turn the Galaxy S6 off.
  • Reboot your Galaxy S6.

If that doesn’t work, we recommend letting your Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge or Galaxy S5 drain all the way down to 0% battery and die. Recharge the phone to 100% battery and then try installing the update again. This has also worked to get updates unstuck.

If neither of those methods work, head down to the bottom of this page to learn about the factory reset option. Factory resets will often jumpstart the installation process though the process is slow and it will require you to backup your important files before starting.

How to Fix Galaxy Android 5.1.1 Battery Life Problems

The Samsung Android 5.1.1 update is several months old and and we’re still seeing complaints about abnormal battery drain. This isn’t too surprising given that battery drain is one of the more common problems smartphone users encounter after a major update. That said, it’s usually not the update itself causing the problems.

Galaxy-S5-Review-10-620x413

In response to these Samsung Galaxy Android 5.1.1 battery drain complaints, we’ve put together a guide that will take you through some potential fixes and tips to help you recover battery life on your Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S5. Sometimes, all it takes is a quick tweak to the software or your habits to fix these issues.

How to Fix Galaxy Android 5.1.1 Wi-Fi Problems

Wi-Fi problems are extremely common and we’ve begun to hear and see complaints about poor Wi-Fi connectivity after the Android 5.1.1 update. Granted these complaints are isolated but as more people get the update, we expect complaints to pick up. They always do.

If you’re experiencing Wi-Fi problems on the Galaxy S6, Galaxy Note 4, or Galaxy S5, the first thing you should do is restart your phone. Hold down the power button, power it down, and then power it back on. This has worked for us and many others in the past and it might work for you.

If that doesn’t work, it’s time to turn your attention to your router. If you’re getting a bad signal, try restarting your router.

Unplug it for 30 seconds and then plug it back in to see if that helps. If it doesn’t, you should also consider unplugging your modem and updating your routers firmware. The instructions for firmware updates will vary based on router make and model so you might need to look online.

Galaxy-S6

If none of these work, it’s time to head into your settings. The first thing you’ll want to do there is forget the problem Wi-Fi network. Before you do this, make sure you have the Wi-Fi password handy. You’ll need to enter it in after you forget the network connection.

On the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, this can be found in the Connections portion of Settings. Once there, select Wi-Fi. Tap on the desired network and select the Forget option. The process is similar on the Galaxy S5.

If that doesn’t fix your connection, you will want to head into Wi-Fi settings, tap More in the top right corner, and select the Advanced option. Ensure that Always allow scanning is turned on. You’ll also want to make sure that Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep is set to Always.

You might also want to go into Power saving mode options to check if Wi-Fi restrictions are in place. If you use this feature, you might be limiting your Wi-Fi connectivity.

How to Fix Galaxy Android 5.1.1 Bluetooth Problems

Bluetooth issues are still a big problem for some Galaxy smartphone and tablet users on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. There are a few ways to fix Bluetooth problems.

The first step is to toggle Bluetooth off and then back on to see if that jumpstarts the connection. You can do that in the Quick Settings menu on the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S5. You can also do it in the main Bluetooth menu in the main Settings page.

If that doesn’t work, you’ll want to forget the Bluetooth connection that’s giving you trouble. On the Galaxy S6, go into Bluetooth, tap the connection and select Forget. You need only do this for the devices causing the problems. The process is the same for the Galaxy S5.

Galaxy-S5-Review-16-620x413

If you’re having trouble connecting to Bluetooth in your car, then you’re going to need to consult your car’s manual in order to reset the connection. Once you’ve done that and forgotten the connection on your phone, then you should try to reconnect and see if they’re able to pair.

If those fixes don’t work, you might want to try booting into Safe Mode to see if an app is causing Bluetooth problems. Safe Mode disables third-party apps and that will allow you to isolate troublemakers. It’s tedious but it’s worth a shot if your problems are persistent.

To boot into Safe Mode on the Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S5:

  1. Power down the device. Then, press & hold the power button and volume down key.
  2. Once it boots up, you can let go of the power button but keep the volume key held down.
  3. When you have successfully entered into Safe Mode, you will notice the text ‘Safe Mode’ at the bottom left corner of the screen.

How to Fix Galaxy Android 5.1.1 Lag

Samsung Galaxy S5 users in particular are complaining about lag after installing Android 5.1.1 on the device. Often times, these performance issues will dissipate a few hours or even a few days after an update’s arrival. If they don’t, you can try fixing them using a few different techniques.

The first thing we always recommend is clearing out the device’s cache partition. Instructions on how to do that can be found above under our fixes for installation problems. There are a few other remedies to try if that doesn’t work.

If you own a Galaxy S5, you can try limiting animations. In order to do this, you’ll want to hold down on a blank space on the screen, go to the Home Screen Settings then Transition effect and then select None. You can always enable transitions again if this doesn’t help.

Galaxy-S6-Edge-15

We recommend halting your use use of live wallpapers as they can negatively impact performance on Galaxy devices. You can also try downloading a different launcher. The TouchWiz launcher is improved on the Galaxy S6 though you might notice some gains after installing a popular one like Nova Launcher.

If you own a Galaxy S6 and you are willing to go to great lengths to improve performance, you can play with the device’s animations. To do this, go into the About section of your Settings, it’s found under the System tab.

Once there, tap the Build Number section seven times to get into the phone’s Developer mode. Warning, novice Galaxy S6 users should not attempt this.

Once your Developer options appear, there should be options for Window animation scale, Transition animation scale, Animator animation scale.

By default, these are set to 1x. Some Galaxy S6 users have said that changing them to .5x will enhance the phone’s performance. We haven’t tried this ourselves so you’ll want to be extremely careful.

How to Fix Galaxy Android 5.1.1 Overheating Problems

Samsung Galaxy S and Galaxy Note users are complaining about issues with the temperature of their smartphone. This is a common complaint and one that you can fix.

If this happens to your Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S5, or another device, you’ll first want to try restarting your phone to see if that helps. You’ll want to leave it off for a minute or so and then reboot.

If this doesn’t work, boot the device into Safe Mode. The instructions on how to do that can be found above. Often times, an app will go rogue and start overworking your phone. Safe Mode will help you spot the rogue application.

Galaxy-S6-5

The Galaxy S6 doesn’t come with a microSD card slot so you can’t try this next step if you own one. If you own a Galaxy S5 though, it’s worth a shot.

Power down the phone but this time remove the battery and your microSD card from the microSD card slot. Pop the battery back in without the microSD card in and see if that helps cool down the phone.

How to Fix Galaxy Android 5.1.1 App Problems

We’re hearing about poor app performance, something that doesn’t come as much of a surprise given that apps always act up after major Android updates. Most Android developers do a great job keeping their apps updated and stable but there are always a few that cause trouble.

If you run into app problems after installing Android 5.1.1 on your Galaxy phone or tablet, you’ll first want to try updating the application. Make sure you read the latest reviews before you do.

If that doesn’t work, try reinstalling the application. If that doesn’t work, you’ll want to report bugs to the developer so that it cane work on fixes. If your problem is enterprise related, you’ll want to talk to your IT department if you have one.

How to Fix Galaxy Android 5.1.1 Charging Problems

Some Galaxy S and Galaxy Note users are complaining about slow charging problems. If you see this issue, there are a few things to try.

First, you need to make sure the device is charging on the charger that came with the phone. If you need to dig the charger up, dig it up. It could help. If the stock charger does nothing, try using a charger with the same voltage rating as the stock charger. That information can be found in a manual online.

Galaxy-S6-8

If neither works, you can try using a USB cable instead of a wall charger. You should also try plugging your Galaxy into a computer to see if that helps.

How to Fix Galaxy Android 5.1.1 GPS Problems

GPS problems are also common after Android updates. If you run into GPS issues after installing Android 5.1.1, know that there are a few things to try to jumpstart the connection.

If you own a Galaxy S6, you’ll want to head into the device’s Settings. From there, scroll over to the Personal tab and select Privacy and safety. Then, tap Location and Location Method.

Once there, you can try using GPS, Wi-Fi and mobile networks to try and track your location. If that’s not accurate, try Wi-Fi and Mobile only. If that still fix the issue, try using GPS only. You can also try toggling Location On then Off then On from the previous screen to see if that jump starts the GPS connection on your Galaxy S6.

If you own an older Galaxy like the Galaxy S5, head into Settings, Location and then make sure the Mode is set to High Accuracy. If that doesn’t solve the issue, it’s time to boot the phone into Safe Mode to see if a third-party application is causing the problem.

Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge users can also try Safe Mode to see if you can isolate a problem application.

How to Fix Galaxy Android 5.1.1 Problems If Nothing Works

If nothing else works, you can look into the downgrade process and potentially move back to an older version of Lollipop or even Android 4.4 KitKat.

You can also try performing a factory reset on your phone though we only recommend this if you can’t find any fixes for your problem and it’s severely impacting the performance of your device. You’ll also want to make a backup of your important files before starting this process because it will wipe everything. Again, it’s a last resort.

To factory reset the Galaxy S5, go into Settings, User & Backup, and select Backup and Reset. From there, select Factory Data Reset. From there, select Reset Device and then Delete All.

How to fix Galaxy S6 Edge problems.

To factory reset a Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge, go into Settings then Personal then Backup and reset. From there, select Factory Data Reset. From there, select Reset Device.

One final reminder. Before you factory reset or return your phone, you’ll want to scour the internet for other potential fixes. Our fixes are a great starting point but they may not work for everyone. Make sure you dig around before you do something drastic after getting the Android 5.1.1 on board.

You can also reach out to Samsung or your carrier for more information and potential fixes.

Since lollipop arrived including updates, fixes, etc. I am only still an Android/Galaxy S5 customer because of our company account with VZW

We have all been shocked each one of us by the now worst device and OS I feel ever.

What happened Google? Is this now the time and company that negatively leverages costs of new devices and carrier contracts to produce at will subpar product as well as drop any concern for customer service?

    Disappointed…

The manufacturer offers a 365 day warranty that’s usually enough time to discover if your problem is mfg related or user related.

And it constantly stays on 4g. Tried resetting network. Go to 4G lte. As soon as I go it start switchING back to 4g.. I have unlimited 4g lte.. I have galaxy s5 on t mobile

Check your APN settings against the LTE VERSION. 104 is technically in the acceptable range from MFG. IF you use something like clean master to determine temp that app and apps like it are very unreliable.

the process to wipe cache partition doe s5 is wrong on this page. you hold home, power and volume up until startup then volume down to wipe cache.

Wipe cache go to settings, storage and clear it from there. Also you can clear individual app cache from the app manager. This guys instructions are garbage.

Thanks Stephanie, I was going to comment on the S5 Wipe Cache Partition instructions myself. The author really needs to do his research before willy nilly providing incorrect instructions. Not that it’s been helping me much lately since the update, Samsung does at least have a turn off feature for those annoying apps u cannot uninstall without rooting. I’ve disabled a bunch on this phone.

S5 user with multiple issues. Before update I could not send text messages at all. After update Texts can be sent, but swipe is no longer functioning as it should. It will lag and no longer auto space or punctuate. Transition between apps and screens sometimes take 5 to ten seconds. And battery life has decreased substantially. Of all the issues the swipe is most upsetting, closely followed by lag.

The UPDATE REMOVES ALMOST IF NOT ALL SCREEN MIRRORING, SCREENCAST, HDMI/MHL TECHNOLOGY, NETFLIX AND OTHERS ALIKE ARE FORCING COMPANIES WITH THIS TECHNOLOGY TO BLOCK IT OUT OR BE SUED, AT LEAST THAT’S WHAT THE SAMSUNG REP TOLD ME AND I’M PISSED BECAUSE THIS WAS ONE OF MY FAVORITE FEATURES, IF YOU HAVE MHL CAPABILITIES ON ANY DEVICE OR KNOW PEOPLE WHO DO, WARN THEM FAST NOT TO UPDATE ALSO PHONES WITH THE CAPABILITY WILL PROBABLY BE WORTH MONEY IF THIS NEVER GETS RESOLVED! WE NEED TO PETITION THIS AND STOP SUPPORTING THE BULLIES!

    Many issues after this update!

1.Fingerprint sensor is worthless, recognises 5%.
    2. Wifi wouldn’t connect/reconnect automatically. It only connects when I open the main wifi window.
    3. Very laggy
    4. Do not disturb mode which is set automatically from midnight till 7am turns on, but usually no sign in notification line that it’s on.
    5. GPS is so inaccurate. Sometimes it jumps 1000s kms to Asia or else of the blue.
    6. Battery drains at lighting speed.
7.I guess there are many more bugs/flaws I just don’t remember at the moment.

    Conlusion:

My Galaxy S6 is a total piece of cr*p now. Worse than with 5.0.2 which was really good!

Tons of problems with 5.1.1 on my Note 4. Freezes, especially when connecting to my car’s bluetooth. But at other times as well. The only way to reset it is to remove the battery. Won’t even let me do a regular restart or shut down when it decides to act up. When I try to go into location settings location services shut down. Never had any of these problems prior to 5.1.1 a few days ago. What a nightmare. I will most likely have to do a factory reset and hope that fixes the numerous problems.

Updated my galaxy s6 edge a few days ago and it went maniac…
-The keyboards lag on whatsapp and internet, “closing” themselves every few seconds. I have to re-open them many times when writing a single message or search.
-S Health opens on its own on the blood glucose page often whithout me doing anything
-Games (dragon mania legends) go crazy: the screen goes white every few seconds and then back to normal -> can’t play normally
-It’s slower than before and I have trouble with the screen as if some zones weren’t responding to touch well…
-I have less battery life and it overheats like mad when it charges

I tried everything: un- and reinstalling apps, turning the phone off and on (it worked a few times but lasts for only a few minutes…), clearing the cache of the individual apps (worked for whatsapp but only for a few hours), clear the cache of the entire device and rebooting, changing the theme (worked for a few minutes as well).
I would like to downgrade but it seems it’s only possible for nexus…
The only thing left seems to be a factory rest but I don’t even know if it’ll work.

If I could get some help it would be very kind!

After 24 months of use of sumsung galaxy S5 tablet and expiration of warranty it is bringing overheating problems a nd dropping network from my subscriber and charging ver fast and discharging, i have returned the tablet for check up into the sumsung agents, they fixed the problems and now in one month the same problems are back again, just seven days before expiration of the warranty. I remember it took 2 months 4 them to fix the same problems untill i became impatient.. my question is: do you sell warranties or you sell goods? If then you sell reliable goods how then should they become nagging just before the expiration of the warranty?
It might be hard to convince me anyway, as i was a royal brand taker for sumsung..

Was running hellfire mod on my gt3110(galaxy tab2) but despite it being good,it was just too unfinished:(.
Decided to try lollipop 5.0 and albeit stable it still had afew issues(keyboard sounds not reducing with media control and unstable and laggy web browsing\menus and afew app issues)
Updated to 5.1 and despite running the right gapps version it was much worse, apps failing left right and centre(Google apps\youtube and other apps)
Decided to take note of which apps and deleted them and reinstalled them,so far it stabilised them and no more process failings.
Hopefully the next update they decide to bring out will be at least checked prior to launch :(
But so far lollipop 5.1 and gapps 5.1 working well, more testing to be done but if you get failing systems then reinstall if it isn’t fatal system services.
Otherwise its a nice UI :)

Been testing lollipop 5.1 on my gt3110 and after several days I’ve only found minor
Issues(slow web loading even using zilla(+beta) and stock browser ,plus an irritating habit of it selecting a random story from whatever I’m reading(DM).
That and the keyboard tones not adjustable(vol +\-)
So far its very smooth and well designed!
After I had the app failures after the initial flash from hellfire to lollipop 5.0\lollipop 5.1 and uninstalling the affected apps and redownloading them,it now updates fine without app crashes.
I’m using the nightly ROMs and Google (gapps) packets(mini)5.1 and using lollipop has replaced my ROM manager backup systems with cyanogen recovery which is fine, just make sure you make a backup using the recovery option in the reboot selector options and do that for any other flashes of lollipop versions5\5.1\5.2 etc.
Wipe the caches\reset device \etc etc, then install the zip\s from your SD card (pop first then gapps).
After flashing pop its made it easier as I can now down load an updated pop+gapps version, then place the files from the internal to the SD and reboot into recovery without the PC inbetween :) very quick updating!!!(backup as said first);)
This method reduces the chance of bricking it almost completely!
Good tip though ….don’t read the dos type readout during install!;)
Worstcase it will state you need to fix root issues which it does 100%( that was the initial hellfire to lollipop flash! After that its sorted but that may not ask that with everyone’s systems, but worth mentioning in case anyone gets panicked, but if your reading this your most likely versed in modding ROMs :)
    Cm ROMs work great!!
    Thumbs up!
(It just seem to be gapps that can produce bugs and glitches, but as said there are ways to work around it with little issues(id say its a basic program seating issue but nothing worth worrying about:)
Chuffed with the speed of the 5.1 improvements(menus fly open!:)

Forgot to mention that the battery seems to be under more load but no heat issues
But that could be that my battery isn’t as good as it was and I’m hesitant to update
To 5.2 just on the battery usage,if anyone notices a higher load issue then please report it here.
The battery saver systems of pop seem to be very clever too(bar screen usage being high even on 7% and reducing brightness does little to extend its life but its better than 68%on the hellfire screen usage!! But still drains quicker it seems even stating 7%???

I’ll persist as it could be accurate but my battery crap ? No idea but I’ll see:)

Contacts failing to add and laggy keyboard, chrome browser seems the most stable and the odd random reboot if left on and then used.
    Lollipop 5.1.1
Otherwise I still love this ROM!
I’ve even modded my tab 2 with induction charging by using an iPhone 5 receiver sticker/pad thing:)
And love the modifying ability of the apps permissions and root lock! I could go on and on.
Just waiting for the update to ,5.2 which hopefully sorts out the niggles.

I updated my samsung note edge to the new OS 5.1.1 and on my contacts it says ‘contact list is being updated’. It has said this for 2 days, I cannot see any of my contacts, how do I stop this? I’ve tried deleting my google account but it hasn’t worked! Help!

  40. Steve

    11/07/2015 at 1:29 am

Sher , how did you update? ( manually flashing or using the inbuilt update system )
If manual then you could try reflashing either the ROM or gapps without clearing caches and see if it sorts it out,the new update from xda is great and only spazzes on Google play service’s but tick OK and its gone until you plug it in or reboot it.
    But its minor!
Contacts are working fine on the ROM I installed from xda
    Good luck

Still waiting for the custom backup to be made for my tab3 :(
Loving the ROM so far and its amazing what lollipop 5.1 will function without (Google etc)
Google play services error but that happens as standard, but I’ve removed everything else!!
Out of 4.59gb I’ve clawed back 2.50gb instead of existing on 1.2gb..
If you get software issues the either reinstall gapps or the ROM without clearing caches.

Through the GS5 default messaging app, I use to be able to attach a pic and add text before hitting send. I choose a contact, hit the paperclip to attach a picture from my gallery, choose the pic…now here is where my issue is. At the top right of the screen, after I select the pic, the word Done would be there which I tap and would then be redirected back to the messaging app where I would add text then send pic & text. Now instead the word Send is there and when I tap it the pic is automatically sent without letting me add any text.

      01/19/2016 at 10:06 am

Chris did you ever find a solution for this? I have since stopped using the default messaging app, which started my journey to turn off many of the other Samsung default apps, something I would not have done if one of the most important apps I depend on did not stop working properly (Hope someone from Samsung is reading this).

In any case, I have been using ChompSMS, which has been almost satisfactory. I was quite happy with the default S5 messaging app, have done phone OS updates since initially disabling it, re-enabled it in hopes of the attach a pic problem being fixed, found out it still does not work, so went back to Chomp/investigating other options.

Your instructions on booting to recovery mode for the s5 don’t work on the SM-G900T. For me, I had to hold volume up instead of volume down. Holding volume down boots it in ODIN mode.

    Hello,

Trying to clear the cache partition using power / home/ volume down when powered off. Usually I get the menu I am supposed to have, but since my phone updated to 5.1.1 it goes in a weird mode and hase a warning : a custom os can cause critical problems in phone and installed applications

The only 2 choices I have is either to download custom OS or reboot phone.

So I can never get the booting menu to clear cache partition.

    Can anyone help ?

    Thanks

      Got it,

Up on this page it says to :

      Turn the Galaxy S5 off.
Press and hold Home, Power and Volume Down buttons simultaneously until the device vibrates.
When the Samsung logo appears, release them.

It is actually the VOLUME UP and not the down button that worked for me.

      Thanks

You’re going about it the wrong way that screen you’re getting is to update the version of the software manually. That screens on pretty much every Samsung phone.

Ever since my phone upgraded to 5.1.1 it’s been just about useless, especially right out of sleep mode. Websites do not load at all, and google hangouts is spotty as heck, and refuses to open MMS messages (and yea, I called my mobile provider to make sure it was on) so I had to switch back to regular messages. Battery drains and the lag is… infuriating.

    12/27/2015 at 5:44 pm

When updating to a new operating system all the apps you use on your phone regularly also needs to be updated if the developers of those apps have not made support yet for 5.1.1 then you’re going to be out of luck. If you’ve unlocked your phone your boot loader and are running custom ROMs you can’t guarantee that that source is legitimate. I’ve seen many versions of 5.1.1 on XDA developers that are complete garbage some of them are still using kit Kat 4.4.x that just made a launcher that looks like 5.1.1. I would not recommend bringing your phone to be serviced at any physical locations if you’re running custom software, that is going to void your warranty and thus stop the warranty replacement process dead and in its tracks. Some of the resolutions in this thread are good but some of them make zero sense whatsoever I hope the author didn’t you just copy paste from un verified sources. I work in a device support center for a major retailer in cellular communication so if any of you have any real questions still comment on my thread and I’ll try to answer them.

Since the most recent update, my Note Edge takes forever to charge on the original “fast charger” and drains quickly. It is out of the warrantee period – and this is my second Note Edge (first one, camera wouldn’t work right). My phone overheats – even when I am not using it. Yes, I have shut down all the apps, etc. but they turn right back on. I do not have 100’s of apps on my phone, I don’t have games (other than what came on it), I’m so sick of it. One app in particular that crashes all the time is Pintrest – I will go out to a site or blog from Pintrest and it will crash. I know it could be the various ads on a site, but it is ridiculous to pay the amount they want for this phone and only be able to use it as if it were a flip phone!

To solve the Wi-Fi problem, it worked for me:

Inside the router configuration (e.g., accessing the IP 192.168.0.1), change the “Group key update” value from 0 to 30 seconds, under the “Wireless > Security” configuration, right below the WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK item.

    Router: TP-LINK TL-WR740N / TL-WR740ND.
