2020 Hyundai Palisade: 15 Exciting Features

Published

on

The 2020 Hyundai Palisade is an all-new three-row SUV with room for up to eight. I recently had the chance to test the new Palisade to see how this luxurious SUV handles and to see what it’s packing once you get inside the bold exterior.

Looks and features are a huge part of the experience and in a three-row SUV, the second and third-row are just as important as the driver’s seat. That’s something Hyundai definitely delivers with great features throughout the cabin.

My drive route took me through storied test roads around Michigan where I was able to get a sense for how the Palisade handles. I came away impressed by the overall handling on twisty roads as well as the tight turning radius when I decided I needed a photo or missed a turn while admiring the scenery.

While this is a big SUV, it doesn’t feel like I am driving a big SUV. This is something that’s said about three-row SUVs often, but Hyundai did a really great job of balancing this vehicle and making it enjoyable to drive.

I tested the 2020 Hyundai Palisade SEL with the bench seat and the top of the line Limited with captains chairs. The Palisade starts at $3,1550, the SEL is $33,500 and the Limited is $44,700. There are only two real packages to add to the SEL, and you can opt for AWD on any trim level.

15 Exciting 2020 Palisade Features

Here are the most exciting 2020 Hyundai Palisade features that stood out to me after driving the SEL and Limited and spending time in the second and third-rows.

Driver Talk Mode

When you want to talk to the kids in the back of the Palisade, you simply push the Driver Talk button and your voice is sent over the speakers to the rear seats. You can even program this to a favorite button on the dash, so it is always available.

Quiet Mode

Quiet mode lets you turn off the rear speakers and keep the max volume upfront down so that you can listen to podcasts, audiobooks or your favorite music while the kids are sleeping or in headphone land.

Air Vents

There are tons of air vents in the Palisade, and they aren’t just your normal vents. I know, you’re probably thinking there is no way these can be exciting, but you’d be wrong. With these air vents, each kid can control how much air they are getting and when you close them, you still get a soft flow of air. This keeps the temperature right, without blasting air in someone’s face.

Charging Situation

There are a abundance of chargers in the Palisade.

There are seven USB charging ports in the Palisade and a wireless charging slot in the front of the car. This means everyone can charge at once, and the chargers are spread out throughout the cabin so that there’s even easy access in the third row. You also get a 12V outlet and there is an optional 115 V power outlet on the SEL that is standard on the Limited.

Heated and Ventilated Second Row

If you are on the SEL, you can get an optional heated second-row seat and on the Limited you get heated and ventilated second-row seats. This really helps with overall comfort on long trips and it’s nice to see both as standard features on the Limited.

Easy Control of Seats

It's easy to get into and out of the third-row.

To get into the third row, you can easily move the second-row. There are two buttons, one near the floor and one near the shoulder. Press this and the seat slides forward for easy access. This is standard across all trim levels and it’s a super handy feature. On the SEL you can option a power third row, and it is standard on the Limited. With the easy control of seats and the handles, it’s not a chore to get in and out of the third-row.

Smart & Fast Liftgate

The liftgate on the 2020 Palisade is smart, so if you stand behind the vehicle with the key in your pocket, it will open automatically for you.

It’s also a quick open, so you don’t waste time waiting on a liftgate to slowly open when your hands are full. This is standard on the Limited and part of a package on the SEL.

Cargo With Third Row

There's a good amount of cargo room even with the third row in use.

When you have a full SUV, cargo room is very important. In the 2020 Palisade, there is room for a 100qt cooler when the third row is in use. You can also stack quite a bit of gear and luggage back here.

Safe Exit Assist

The Palisade features Safe Exit Assist, which prevents a kid in the second row from opening the door when sensors detect traffic. When the Electronic Child Safety lock is engaged, this feature turns on and even if the kid is old enough to know to unlock the door toggle this feature will keep them in when traffic is detected.

Rear Seat Reminder

If the car detects that someone is in the back seat, you will get an alert when you exit the vehicle to check the rear seats. If you leave the Palisade without checking, it will honk the horn and flash the lights. It can even send an alert to your phone through BlueLink if it detects movement in the back seat and you are walking away from the vehicle.

Highway Drive Assist

The Palisade features Highway Drive Assist. This is a nice feature that works with the Smart Cruise Control and Lane Following Assist to help keep you centered in your lane on the highway. This isn’t an autonomous driving mode, just a nice feature that helps remove the need for small corrections to stay in your lane when traveling on the highway. It works well and is a nice addition to the Smart Cruise Control.

Blue Link Connected Car

Hyundai Blue Link is a connected car feature that lets you remote start your car with the ability to turn on the heat, A/C or defroster. You can also remote unlock or lock the doors and even sound the horn. You’ll get vehicle health reports and alerts and can also find your car in a crowded parking lot. Blue Link is an option on the SEL and standard on Limited with three years of access included.

Apple CarPlay & Android Auto

Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are standard on the 2020 Hyundai Palisade. Whether you are using them on the standard 8-inch touchscreen or on the upgraded 10.25-inch screen, you have access to your favorite map apps, music, voice assistant, easy phone calls and the ability to quickly respond to texts.

Two Bluetooth Devices at Once

With the upgraded 10.25-inch display that is standard on Limited and optional on the SEL, you get the ability to connect up to two devices by Bluetooth at the same time.

This simplifies taking calls on a road trip and choosing which phone to stream music from. It’s a small feature, but one that will spoil you.

Digital Instrument Cluster

The 12.3-inch digital cluster is a nice feature on the Limited trim level.

The 2020 Hyundai Palisade Limited includes a 12.3-inch digital display instrument cluster. No analog gauges here, just a big beautiful display. It can show information about your navigation and when you put on a turn signal it even shows a camera view where the gauges are on the left or right depending which way you are turning. There are also cool animations when you switch driving modes.
