The iPad mini 6 will run iPadOS 15 out of the box. The operating system is very new and users are dealing with an assortment of bugs and performance issues. 

Apple will likely roll out new iPadOS 15 software in the coming days so it might be worth waiting for the next batch of bug fixes to arrive before buying.
