Install for Adaptive Battery & Adaptive Brightness
The One UI's features aren't the only big changes on board Android Pie. You also get some of Google's Pie features as well.
The Android Pie update comes with a variety of upgrades including Adaptive Battery, Adaptive Brightness, App Actions, Slices, and Smart Text Selection.
If you're unfamiliar with Google's Android Pie features, you should take a look at our Android Pie vs. Android Oreo walkthrough.
We want to call out Adaptive Battery and Adaptive Bright individually because we think you're going to enjoy them.
Adaptive Battery is an AI-based feature that learns how you use the apps on your phone over time and uses the data to improve your device's battery life.
If you use an app a lot, it will stay in your memory after you close it. If you don't use an app a lot, your Galaxy S8 will instantly kill it so it doesn't eat up power in the background.
It also learns when you use your apps the most. So if you use an app at a certain point in the day every day, it will wake that app up during that time period. It will stop the app in the background during the times you don't regularly use it.
Adaptive Brightness also uses AI to learn your habits. And like the name suggests, the feature is related to the brightness of your display.
Over time, your phone will learn how you like to set your phone's brightness in certain situations and it will adjust the screen accordingly.
It's a nifty feature and one we've enjoyed during our time on Pie.
