Don't Buy if You Want the Latest Features this Fall and Forward

The biggest reason not to buy the 2019 iPod Touch is that it is running the same processor as the iPhone 7. While it gains new features from the outgoing model it is still two generations behind and this fall it will be three generations behind. 

It doesn't feature Touch ID or Face ID and with an older processor it likely won't get all of the new iOS 13 features this fall. As you look farther out it is unlikely Apple updates the iPod touch for another several years and you will be stuck with tech that is already fairly old when you unbox it. 

You also miss out on the upscale camera features found on newer iPhones, which could play into the overall long term use of the device. 

If you need access to the newest features instead of just a device for kids or a purpose driven device, skip the iPod Touch and wait for the fall or buy an alternative.
