4G LTE Pantech Breakout Shows Up at Verizon Store

Ahead of the 4G LTE capable Pantech Breakout Android smartphone rumored launch on September 22nd, the device is beginning to make appearances at Verizon Wireless stores. The Breakout will be the carrier’s fifth LTE smartphone, following on the heels of the HTC Thunderbolt, Samsung Droid Charge, LG Revolution, and Motorola Droid Bionic. With the Bionic being the most full featured Android device on Verizon’s 4G LTE network, the Breakout will occupy the other end of the spectrum as a very capable, yet affordable device to get entry-level owners into the 4G LTE fray, which promises download speeds up to ten times faster than 3G speeds.

Also, from the images obtained by Droid-life, it appears that the device won’t get the premium packaging experience of the other 4G LTE phones that precede it. Rather, the device will get the standard grey box that most Verizon smartphones ship in.

The Breakout may be among the most compact 4G LTE device on Verizon’s lineup. With other devices sporting a 4.3-inch display of either WVGA resolution or qHD resolution–as is the case with the Droid Bionic–the Breakout will have a smaller 4-inch display, a 1 GHz single-core CPU, and front- and rear-facing cameras.

The device will also feature the Pantech UI overlay on top of Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Also, like the Droid Charge, this device will have physical Android navigation buttons, rather than the capacitive touch ones that are found on a majority of Android smartphones today.
