The smartphone world is heating up with the HTC M8 and Samsung Galaxy S5 seemingly on the horizon. From the looks of things though, February is going to be a fairly quiet month, the calm before the storm at most carriers, including the nation’s largest 4G LTE service provider, Verizon Wireless.
Last year was a bit of a turbulent one for Verizon customers. While the carrier was the first to complete its 4G LTE roll out, it ran into some trouble launching its flagship smartphones, with the Samsung Galaxy S4 launch a bit behind the curve and the HTC One release well behind the curve. We’re talking months later.
The carrier got its act together with the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 release. Verizon was one of the first to offer specific dates for its brand new large screen smartphone and it released the device in the same vicinity of its competitors. The Galaxy Note 3 was one of the last big smartphone releases of the year for Big Red and as we head into the new year, it remains one of biggest smartphone releases of the last few months.
Things were fairly quiet for Verizon at the end of last year and thus far in 2014. We haven’t seen the carrier debut any big time smartphones and from the looks of things, the next two on the horizon are the Galaxy S5 and HTC M8, both of which are rumored to be debuting in just a few weeks. What this means is that they will likely miss the month of February, which means that those who need a smartphone sometime this month will likely have to settle for Verizon’s current lineup.
Fortunately, Verizon’s current lineup of devices isn’t bad. In fact, it’s loaded with options, options that have the potential to make consumers heads spin. With that in mind, we want to take a look at the devices we consider to be the five best smartphones on Verizon for the month of February, 2014.

Rumors point to a new iPhone, an iPhone 6, coming out later this year but for now, the iPhone 5s is the top of the line iPhone and one of the best on Verizon.
