Tons of new HTC Android 4.4 KitKat update release details have emerged today thanks to a well-known HTC insider and leakster. And while some of the details have yet to be confirmed by HTC itself, they fall in line with everything that Gotta Be Mobile has heard about HTC’s plans for Android 4.4 KitKat.
Shortly after Google announced Android 4.4 KitKat, HTC made some Android 4.4 KitKat announcements of its own confirming a number of updates for arrival in the future. Among them, Android 4.4 KitKat updates for HTC One variants, the HTC One mini, and the HTC One Max. HTC also quickly confirmed Android 4.4 KitKat for the Droid DNA.
Since then, we’ve seen several of these updates roll out including updates for the HTC One Google Play Edition and Developer Edition. We’ve also been able to glean details for the remaining devices. We now know that the HTC One Android 4.4 KitKat updates set to arrive this month for U.S. carriers will bring Sense 5.5 to the table.
We know that the HTC One in the U.S. will be getting the new version of Android 4.4, Android 4.4.2 KitKat. We also know that the Developer Edition will get Android 4.4 KitKat in January. We also know, thanks to HTC, that the Droid DNA Android 4.4 KitKat update is currently scheduled for Q1. That means January, February or March.
Thanks to Canadian carrier Rogers, we also have at time frame during which to expect the HTC One mini Android 4.4 KitKat update. Rogers claims that it will roll out the update in late February, though, it didn’t provide a specific date.
Today, we have some new details to toss in the hat thanks to known leakster LLabTooFeR. According to him, the HTC One, HTC One Dual SIM, HTC One max, and One mini will get the 4.4.2 KitKat update sometime between January and February. The timing for the HTC One Dual SIM and One max is new and so is the HTC One mini Android 4.4.2 update information. He also has provided two other details.
He claims that the HTC Butterfly S Android 4.4 KitKat update has just entered testing so he suspects a release after this first wave, perhaps in March or April. This backs up information provided to Gotta Be Mobile which stated that the HTC Butterfly S would indeed get Android 4.4 KitKat.

He also says that the Droid DNA Android 4.4 KitKat update will more than likely be based on Android 4.4.2 KitKat, something that HTC has not yet confirmed.
These details help to paint a better picture of HTC’s Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade plans. The carrier will likely continue to release details of its own as we get closer to the next wave of Android 4.4 KitKat roll outs.
