If we weren't so close to the beginning of the new year, the HTC One M7 would be a device that we'd recommend. But now that we're entering 2015, we're close to another release cycle and there's a good chance that HTC will release its yearly flagship in the upcoming weeks.
The HTC One M7 was one of 2013's best smartphones. Earlier this year, HTC replaced it with an HTC One M8, a device that we believe is among the best smartphones on the market. The HTC One M8 is also a lot cheaper than it once was, making it a solid alternative to the HTC One M7. We mentioned the beginning of a smartphone cycle. HTC tends to release its flagships in the first or second quarter of the year which means that the HTC One M8's replacement is probably a few months away. Its arrival will almost certainly drop the price of the HTC One M8 even further and give consumers another high-end HTC option. The HTC One M7 turns two in a few months which means that software support will cease. And that, and the price of the HTC One M8, make it a hard device to recommend.
