The Samsung Galaxy S3 was once the pride of Samsung's mobile division and one of the best selling smartphones on the market. The device is now closing in on its third birthday and while it's still an option at some carriers and retailers, we suggest avoiding it for a few different reasons.
Samsung's Galaxy S3 comes with some decent specifications but it's lacking in a number of key areas. The first, the camera. Camera technology has evolved over the past two and a half years and its left the Galaxy S3 camera looking its age. Same goes for display technlogy. The Galaxy S3's 720p display pales in comparison to most screens. The Galaxy S3 is also on its last leg as far as Android updates are concerned. Android 4.4 KitKat is still not on every model and there's little chance of an upgrade to Android 5.0 Lollipop. In our eyes, the device isn't worth a contract. In fact, it's really not worth your time at all. Not with the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S5 as cheap as they are. Both of these devices offer improved hardware, software and software support and they are much better options. If you can't spare much cash up front, take a look at the Samsung Galaxy S4, last year's model. It's better than the Galaxy S3 and it's also very cheap.
