Google Pixel owners on Twitter and Reddit have already started talking about Android 8.0 problems though. Some of the biggest complaints are regarding the update process itself.

Basically, those coming from the 4th beta to Android 8.0 on the Pixel XL are having issues. The installation fails completely. Almost every other supported device works just as expected. So, if you're struggling with the Pixel XL, wait for a fix or manually install it per our earlier instructions.

Earlier beta releases had issues with WiFi, battery life, and even Android Pay problems. Most of those early issues were fixed by Google prior to this official update on August 21st. Once we use Android 8.0 Oreo more extensively we'll update with more details.

Something simple perhaps, that I don’t seem to be finding any online info about:

Right after install, we are prompted to “Select Home”, where the selections are “EasyHome”, “Home”, or “Home & app drawer”

At first, I kept the use-as-default box unchecked to make it easy to try the options a bit. (I’m still not clear what “EasyHome” is supposed to be…. except simpler.)

HERE’s the big takeaway, for me: if you select “Home & app drawer”,
then you GET BACK the icon setup, from your desktop BEFORE the update to 8.0.
