Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Release Date Nears
Samsung still isn’t talking about the Galaxy Note 5 release but thanks to a series of FCC filings, we know that the Galaxy Note 5 release date is getting closer.
For several months, consumers in the United States have been bombarded with Samsung Galaxy Note 5 rumors. As the weeks have gone on, these Galaxy Note 5 rumors have started to firm up and we now have a number of solid leads ahead of Samsung’s announcement.
While most of these details about the Galaxy Note 5 specs and Galaxy Note 5 release date come from publications with insider sources, we’ve also seen some official Galaxy Note 5 details emerge. And once again, we’re seeing those official bodies provide new Galaxy Note 5 release details ahead of time.
Earlier this month, the AT&T Galaxy Note 5 and Verizon Galaxy Note 5 releases were confirmed thanks to their FCC filings. AT&T’s Galaxy Note 5 is the SM-N920A while the Verizon Galaxy Note 5 model number has been confirmed as SM-N920V. These model numbers follow Samsung’s conventional naming patterns.
These FCC filings confirm the AT&T and Verizon versions of the Galaxy Note 5 but they also point to an imminent Galaxy Note 5 release date in the United States. Typically, FCC filings arrive shortly after a device is announced on stage. In the case of the Galaxy Note 5, they’ve come before the launch.
Today we have new evidence to support this early Galaxy Note 5 release date theory. Blog of Mobile has discovered the Sprint Galaxy Note 5 lurking at the FCC. While the filing doesn’t call the Galaxy Note 5 out by name, the SM-N920P model number aligns with the other known Galaxy Note 5 model numbers. Sprint also uses “P” to designate its devices from other carriers.
This filing doesn’t mean that a Sprint Galaxy Note 5 release date will happen tomorrow but it does mean that we could perhaps see the Galaxy Note release date arrive in the United States much earlier than Samsung’s typical September-October release window.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 launch date is rumored for August 12th, much earlier than the start of IFA 2015 in Berlin, Germany. For four years, Samsung used IFA to announce its Galaxy Note though reports suggest that Samsung’s decided to bump the launch up to put some space between the Galaxy Note and Apple’s rumored iPhone 6s.
Samsung hasn’t sent out media invites just yet so that date isn’t confirmed. We also don’t know how it will approach this year’s Galaxy Note launch. Typically, it uses a big stage to reveal new features and a release date. It’s not clear if it will do that this year with the Galaxy Note 5.
Samsung’s Galaxy Note 5 release date is also expected to arrive shortly after the company announces the phone, a bit of a change from previous years.
Galaxy Note 5 release date rumors have called out August 21st as the device’s release date in key regions like the United States and Asia. Galaxy Note 5 rumors suggest that Europe and perhaps Russia will see a delayed Galaxy Note 5 release date. It’s not clear how long that delay might be.
These FCC filings support rumblings of an early Galaxy Note 5 release date and that should please those who have become enamored with the device’s rumored features.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 specs aren’t confirmed but we’ve seen a number of reports outline key details regarding its screen, processor and more.
Samsung’s next-gen Galaxy Note is expected to feature a design that falls in line with the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, a 5.7-inch Quad HD display, a new S Pen, a 4,000 mAh battery, 4GB of RAM and a new Exynos 7 processor, four color options, and a whole lot more.
It’s still not clear how much this will cost consumers in the United States or abroad but it looks like we might not have to wait too long to find out.
