LG Spectrum Arrives on Verizon’s 4G LTE Network

One of the smartphones announced at CES 2012, the LG Spectrum, is now available on Verizon’s 4G LTE network giving those looking for a nicely spec’d phone with fast data speeds an affordable option. The Spectrum is the company’s follow-up to the LG Revolution, which was one of the first 4G LTE smartphones to hit Verizon’s network.

LG has loaded the Spectrum up with some heavy hitting features.

The first thing you’ll notice is the 4.5-inch display which will feature True HD IPS, 1280×720 resolution, and Corning’s original Gorilla Glass. Sorry, no Gorilla Glass 2 on this bad boy.

It’ll also have a 1.5GHz dual-core processor 8MP rear camera, 1.3 front-facing camera, and 16GB of storage space, and mobile hotspot capabilities.

Keep in mind, this is an Android 2.3 Gingerbread phone. LG has promised Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich during the first part of 2012 but nothing is guaranteed. While that might not be a deal breaker for some of you, it’s certainly an issue. And with MWC right around the corner, it may be worth it to wait a month and see what comes out rather than spending your dough right now.

The Spectrum’s price might be more attractive then as well.

As it stands, it has a pretty unique price tag.

In the past, Verizon’s 4G LTE phones have been priced at $299 on a new-two year contract. The LG Spectrum? Well, it has dipped $100 lower then that and will cost $199 on-contract.

And might just be the sweet spot for some of you out there.
