Acer’s 7-Inch Honeycomb Slate Gets FCC Blessing, Release Coming Soon?

The Acer Iconia Tab A100, which was reported earlier as being delayed, has been seen passing through the FCC for regulatory approval with a WiFi radio. The device features a 7-inch 1024 X 600 resolution, which was speculated as the reason behind its original delay as it was noted that some Honeycomb apps built for the higher 1280 X 800 resolution on many debut 10-inch slates do not scale properly to the 7-inch 1024 X 600 display on the Iconia Tab A100.

The Iconia Tab A100 is similar to its larger brother, the A500. Both devices are powered by a dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor and come with Android Honeycomb.

The A100 will have front- and rear-facing cameras, 8 GB internal storage, and a memory card to add up to 32 GB additional storage.

It’s unclear if the speculations about app incompatibility with the A100’s resolution are addressed by Google and Acer. Since those speculations were originated, at Computex rival Viewsonic had announced its own Honeycomb-powered 7-inch tablet with the same resolution.
