Amazon Appstore for Android Not Working on Galaxy S III At This Time?



It looks like there may be some problems with the Amazon Appstore for Android on early units of the Galaxy S III at this time in the U.S. On my review units of the T-Mobile USA and the AT&T Samsung Galaxy S III with Snapdragon S4 CPU and 2 GB RAM, I was able to install the Amazon Appstore APK from Amazon’s website, but when I tried to log in, Amazon rejected both my username and password on both devices, saying that either the username and/or password are incorrect.

Users can still load and install apps from Google’s Play Store for Android at this time, which are natively pre-installed on all Galaxy S III shipping for the U.S. market. Amazon Appstore for Android patrons will probably have to wait a while for Amazon to rectify the login issue before they can unleash their apps onto the Galaxy S III. This is a shame really as Amazon has had some great free daily apps that I’d love to try install on the Galaxy S III.

Other Amazon services do not have any issues with logons with the Galaxy S III. The Amazon MP3 app recognized my username and password and I was able to get onto Amazon Cloud to stream my uploaded music on T-Mobile’s HSPA+ 4G network as well as AT&T’s LTE network with ease.

Users on AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile should be able to either receive their Galaxy S III pre-orders starting today or pick one up from the stores. Many U.S. carriers are reporting launch delays with the Galaxy S III due to overwhelming demand and short supplies of the phone, so you may have to wait a week or two if you did not preorder the phone.

    I’ve noticed this problem with every ICS device, Galaxy Nexus, T-Mobile SGSII with ICS, Motorola Xoom with ICS, ASUS Transformer prime with ICS, Galaxy tab 8.9 with ICS ROM, etc. It appears the Amazon appstore doesn’t play nice with ICS. The only way I got it to work on my ICS devices was by restoring my appstore backup using Titanium, but you have to root for this.

    i had the same issue a few weeks back and found out that on your amazon there is a device list that shows every phone you have given permission and used to log into from. If there is too many devices that it has given permission too, then it will not let you log in till you have cleared some of the device permission. I had over 20 permission for 20 different devices i cleared all but 3 and it let me log back in again. I can be accessed front your amazon account under setting. I did call customer service and they helped me out as well. Hope this helps.

    Thanks Pablo, that worked for me. I had several devices registered with Amazon and once they were deactivated, I was able to log into Amazon App Store on my Samsung Galaxy S3. It can be found under “Your Account” – “Digital Content” – “Your Apps and Devices”.
