HTC has yet to offer any official details in regards to the devices getting Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. Additionally, it has only confirmed that Sense 5 will be coming to a handful of international devices. Now, thanks to a notorious HTC leakster, we have some further unofficial insight on some other devices that will get Sense 5 and Android 4.2, including Sprint’s EVO 4G LTE, Verizon’s Droid Incredible 4G LTE, Droid DNA and more.
Last year, Google released Android 4.2 Jelly Bean to the public. However, the software has been slow to roll out to devices with no HTC devices currently rocking the software. Even the upcoming HTC One will be running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean at the start. In addition, HTC, last month, announced the new HTC Sense 5 skin for Android. The software will be bringing new features including HTC BlinkFeed and it will be first available on the HTC One.
That doesn’t mean that the HTC One will be the only HTC device running Android 4.2 Jelly Bean or HTC Sense 5 however. In fact, plenty of other devices should see the updates. Shortly after the HTC One arrived, HTC confirmed that global variants of the HTC One X+, HTC One S, HTC One X, and HTC Butterfly would get pieces of Sense 5, hardware wiling. However, it did not confirm any news about Android 4.2 updates, likely due to the fact that it fouled up several last year.
However, thanks to notorious HTC insider LlabTooFeR, we’ve progressively gotten closer to the full list of HTC devices that will be getting updated to Android 4.2 and Sense 5.
While he’s not HTC, he has been accurate in the past, and he has progressively leaked information about the Sense 5 and Android 4.2 updates for HTC devices. Those leaks have culminated in a semi-complete list of devices that he says are “confirmed” for Sense 5 and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean updates. The devices include:
- DLX_WL (HTC Droid DNA)
- DLXB1_U (HTC Butterfly Taiwan)
- Endeavor_U (HTC One X)
- ENRC2B_U (HTC One X+)
- Evita_UL (HTC One XL)
- Evitare_UL (HTC One X+ USA)
- Fireball_WL (HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE)
- Jewel_CL (HTC EVO 4G LTE)
He also says that he thinks the HTC One S will get the updates, but he has yet to confirm it. He also says the list is not final which means we could additions.
The fact that he is saying that the EVO 4G LTE will get these updates bodes well for owners of the AT&T HTC One X. These devices are extremely similar and it could be that AT&T, like Sprint, doesn’t leave its aging device behind.
Currently, there is no timing for these updates, but LlabTooFeR has suggested that the HTC One X Android 4.2 and Sense 5 update could come as soon as this summer.
