It’s no secret that Android device sales have skyrocketed in the past year, but it’s still amazing to see to watch the activation numbers visualized in the below video from the official Android Developers YouTube channel.
The video shows Android getting off to a very slow start in late 2008 before exploding onto the scene with the release of the Droid on Verizon’s wireless network in late 2009. Things go really crazy after the Galaxy S and HTC Evo are released in mid 2010. The video visualizes global Android visualizations before zeroing in on North America and Europe, just in case you want to see where your home town ranks.
