Asus Transformer Pad Infinity Jelly Bean Update Delayed

Published

on

The Asus Transformer Prime Jelly Bean update rolled out today and the Transformer Pad Infinity Jelly Bean update was supposed to follow it tomorrow. However, Asus now says that the Transformer Pad Infinity Jelly Bean update has been delayed due to a keyboard fix.

Yesterday, Asus said that the Transformer Prime and Transformer Pad Infinity updates would be out within 72 hours. And today, the Transformer Prime Jelly Bean update started to arrive for customers.

The company originally said that the Transformer Pad Infinity Jelly Bean update would be out tomorrow however it’s now singing a different tune on its website and on XDA Developers forums.

The Asus Transformer Pad Infinity Jelly Bean update has been delayed.

Here is what Asus says:

Update: The ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity (TF700) Jelly Bean update has been delayed.  Watch here for news about the release date.

Additionally, Asus rep Gary Key confirmed that the reason for the delay was due to a fix for a keyboard issue in Jelly Bean. He says that the fix should be implemented soon and that the update will roll out next week.

For those users in the US and Canada, the 10.4.4.16 Release should be available early next week. A couple of applications that were recently updated (Facebook 1.9.10 on 9/20 as one example) required a last minute firmware update for the keyboard to operate correctly in the “Comment” area with Android 4.1. Sorry about the slight delay but this fix needed to be implemented before release.

This is obviously not the news that users wanted to hear, especially the day before a roll out but an update without bugs is better than one with them. So hopefully, Asus gets everything ironed out and the update rolls out as planned next week.

Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is set to replace Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on the Transformer Pad Infinity and the software brings quite a bit new to the table including a new and improved UI, better notifications, an improved browser and more.

When it does get the update, it will be the third device that Asus has updated to Jelly Bean, a list that includes the Transformer Prime and Transformer Pad 300.

We’ll let you know when we hear about another date.

Oh my… this is crap. First my Thunderbolt keeps getting a delay on its update. Now my Infinity is going to be delayed.

It got delayed by like 3 or 4 days. Why is everyone so hard on a company for wanting to come out quality updates. Especially considering the transformer line up are the first of the tablets to get updated in the first place. If you want OS updates the day they come out stop complaining and buy an iPad. Open source products don’t work the same.

First world problems o.O. All I’m sayin.

Just installed 4.1 on my Prime Infinity.
Zero complaint about Asus product support and update frequency.
    Starts out locked,
Very buttery Interface, most noticeable in the app list screen transitions.

    I’m a happy camper.
