Asus Transformer Prime Jelly Bean Update Starts Rolling Out

The Asus Transformer Prime Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update started rolling out today in Sweden which is the likely start to a much broader roll out around the world.

According to a post on Asus Sweden’s Facebook page, courtesy of Liliputing, the update is rolling out for owners of the Transformer Prime in Sweden. The update is an optional one which means that owners can elect to stay on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich if they so choose.

However, for those that wish to make the upgrade, the option to download and install Android 4.1 Jelly Bean for the Transformer Prime will soon be an option.

The Transformer Prime Jelly Bean update has begun to roll out.

And while Asus Sweden doesn’t directly mention any other countries or timing for roll outs elsewhere, this is a sign that the update is likely primed and ready for a global roll out assuming the update to the Swedish devices goes off without a hitch.

The update comes just a short time after Asus updated its Transformer Pad 300 with Jelly Bean, an update that arrived even before Verizon was able to get Jelly Bean out to its Galaxy Nexus device.

Asus has been extremely diligent about getting updates to its customers in an extremely speedy fashion and the Transformer Prime Android 4.1 Jelly Bean continues that trend.

Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is going to bring a number of new features and enhancements to Transformer Prime owners including a new, smoother UI, a new Google app drawer, browser improvements, more camera features, enhanced notifications and more.

However, it will also kill Adobe Flash support and it will kill support for Wi-Fi Direct, two features that may still interested Transformer Prime owners. Owners will still be able to download Flash it just may give off errors.

So, the Jelly Bean update has arrived in Sweden for Transformer Prime owners and we’ll let you know when the update arrives elsewhere. It shouldn’t be too long of a wait.
