Because We May is a Massive Indie Games Sale

Published

on

From now until June 1, hundreds of independent games across iOS, Android, Mac, and PC are on sale as part of the Because We May event.

The Because We May event lasts about a week and has many developers taking part. There’s no bundle or special reason for event (except maybe Memorial Day), aside from supporting independent game development. Developers are simply dropping prices of their games from now until June 1 so more people will play them.

The website for the event currently has 146 iOS games and 61 Android games on sale by our count. That number may increase as the event is still taking applications while the sale is going on. Most games on both platforms are dropping a dollar or two from their prices, which puts many games around 99 cents. Some games are even free for the duration of the sale.

Many of the games in the sale won awards at the Indie Game Festival or IndieCade and they’re signified with an orange dot on the website. Games signified with a green dot on the website have a Metascore rating of 75 or higher.

The sale includes a number of fantastic games like Sword & Sworcery EP, Osmos, World of Goo, Waking Mars, Anamoly Warzone Earth, and Trainyard. There’s a lot of options for the frugal mobile (and PC) gamer, and it’s hard to go wrong with any of the games, particularly the ones with orange dots.

Some of the games you might already own (I believe I own a copy of World of Goo on about 5 different platforms), but the sale it a great chance to try out a few more independent games. Like any good video game sale, it’s easy to spend more money than you may want to on these games.
