Best Buy Offering $100 Trade-In for Old Phones Towards New iPhone

Best Buy has confirmed to AllThingsD that it will begin a new trade-in program that will guarantee at least a $100 towards a new iPhone 5s or iPhone 5c if you trade-in any working smartphone. This means that you can get the entry-level iPhone 5c for free after the trade-in, or get the 16GB iPhone 5s for just $99.

The promotion will start on Sunday, October 13 and run until October 19. However, if you can make it to a Best Buy Mobile store, the promotion actually starts today for the iPhone 5c. Furthermore, Best Buy says that if the color or size option that you want isn’t available, you can get a rain check and redeem the offer at a later time when more units arrive. This is good news, especially since a lot of iPhone 5s models are sold out.

This isn’t the first time that Best Buy has offered promotions on the new iPhones. The retailer offered $50 off the iPhone 5c earlier this month for a limited time. Walmart and RadioShack also joined in on that promotion, with RadioShack still offering the discount until the end of the month, while Walmart is extending it through the holiday season.

Sprint is offering a similar deal to that of the new Best Buy promotion; any new customer who switches to Sprint will be able to get $100 of the new iPhone 5s or the iPhone 5c, which means you’ll be able to score the same price that Best Buy is offering without even handing in your old smartphone.

Best Buy has been the center of a lot of great deals lately. Just a few days ago, it dropped the price of the Moto X down to $99 in order to spark a bit of competition with the iPhone 5c, but now that you can get the entry-level iPhone for no cost, the price difference is set back yet again. However, this now means that you can get either phone at a pretty awesome discount, especially since the Moto X is one of the best Android phones on the market right now.

So, if you’re eligible for an upgrade and want to get a new iPhone, Best Buy will give you some cash for that old clunker you’ve been using for two years. And in return, you’ll get a shiny new iPhone at a heavily-discounted price.
