We all know that retailers like Target don't offer Black Friday deals out of the kindness of their hearts. Their goal is to get consumers to buy more than what they'd planned to on Black Friday and to get them coming back for more. With that in mind, Target is offering Black Friday shoppers 20% off one Target shopping trip between December 1 through December 7. According to Target's ad, the 20% off coupon will be emailed to eligible shoppers by the end of November. The coupon can only be used once, so it would be wise to consolidate as much holiday shopping in that trip as possible to maximize the savings. While this deal isn't a direct discount, families that spend several hundred dollars on holiday decorations, meals and other household goods could effectively walk away with enough savings to cover most of the cost of an iPhone 5s or iPod touch.

Just a comment about some of the “deals”. Walmart, as just one example, has a seven inch Nextbook tablet with a dual core processor on sale for $69.99. Last week, while shopping for Christmas for the same tablet, with a leather case, it was sold at $59.99 and included a leather case. Not an indictment, particularly against Walmart, many retailers engage in this same type of advertising/practice, I’m merely cautioning shoppers to try to be aware of what they are paying for an item and whether or not the retailer is giving you a good deal or if they have actually marked the price up and called it a sale.
