Acer Switch 3
Every Acer Switch 3 comes with a keyboard and a digital pen, just like other Surface Pro alternatives in this breakdown. Unlike those other devices, you don't sacrifice screen real estate for that savings on accessories.
A 12.2-inch 1,920 x 1,080 display covers the front of the Switch 3, giving you almost the same size workspace as a Surface Pro. You can write on this display using the Active Stylus that Acer includes in the box. Because it’s a 12-inch tablet, the included cover has an almost full-sized keyboard. That makes it more comfortable to type on than Windows 2-in-1s with smaller displays.
Every Windows 2-in-1 has compromises though, and the Acer Switch 3 isn’t the best performing 12-inch Windows 10 2-in-1 you can buy. Its 4GB of RAM is acceptable, but don’t plan on the 1.1 GHz Pentium processor inside this convertible delivering the best performance. Also, count on using its USB 3.0 Type-C port, USB 3.0 port or MicroSD card reader to add more storage for your files. It only comes with 64GB of space. There’s a 2-megapixel camera for video chatting and a 5-megapixel camera for taking photos.
Lastly, the Acer Switch 3 only lasts 8 hours away from its charger. That might not be enough to get you through your workday.
If your needs are basic, all that compromise is worth it for the Acer Switch 3’s low price tag. The Windows 2-in-1 costs $439 at Amazon.
