Dell Venue and Streak 7 getting smudgy at CES 2011

As I write this, Xavier and Josh are checking out the mobile wares from Dell at CES 2011. While they snap photos and get hands-on impressions, we have the official word from Dell on what their Venue smartphone and Streak 7 tablet will offer.

The Dell Venue smartphone sports a 4.1″ AMOLED display with curved Gorilla Glass panel, 8MP camera and Android 2.2 operating system (as opposed to the Venue Pro which runs Windows 7). The curved glass is not a concave design like the Nexus S, but appears to be rounded about the width, more for comfort in hand than against your face. The display is WVGA 800 x 480. Processor is 1GHz Snapdragon. Onboard storage is minimal at 1GB, but can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD. On the software front, Dell is setting this Android phone apart with Stage for media organization. That’s on top of the usual Android smartphone features. No mention of carrier but it is GSM 850/900/1800/1900.

Also announced is the Dell Streak 7, the plus-sized follow-up to the Dell Streak (which in Star Wars episode numbering fashion, we should now call “Dell Streak 5″). As the name implies, it features a 7” display, also 800 x 480 and shielded by Gorilla Glass like the Venue and Streak 5. Processor is a beefy 1 GHz Dual Core nVidia Tegra T20. Rear camera is 5MP Auto Focus with flash, while front camera is 1.3MP for video calls via Qik and Skype (or SQype). Onboard storage options are 16GB or 32GB with expansion via SD/MMC/SDHC slot. Wireless carrier is specified as T-Mobile with connectivity via HSPA+ @ 2100/1900/AWS/850.
