The Droid Incredible 4G LTE release date on Verizon is now pegged for July, not June.
Originally, we had thought that the Droid Incredible 4G LTE, which Verizon originally announced back in May, would be arriving on June 21st. However, according to Droid-Life, it appears that the launch has been pushed back to July with July 5th now the rumored launch date for the 4G LTE smartphone.
And while it’s possible that it could launch before then, it’s also possible that Verizon could push that release date back even further, especially because the carrier is slated to launch the Samsung Galaxy S III around that time.
The Galaxy S III is expected to start arriving on July 9th.
The Droid Incredible 4G LTE’s path to release has been an incredibly odd one. The device had been extensively rumored prior to its official unveiling at CES in Louisiana where we spent some hands-on time with it. Verizon at the time told us that the phone would be released in the “coming weeks.”
Instead, it now appears that it will be launched just around two months after it was officially announced, which could make it a tough sell. Customers are already intrigued by the Samsung Galaxy S III and the Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX will have its Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update by then, making it as formidable as ever.
Even at $149.99 on-contract, as has been rumored, Verizon will have a tough time convincing customers to buy the Droid Incredible 4G LTE.
We’ll let you know when we hear for sure but as of right now, don’t expect the next Droid Incredible to arrive until next month.
Anyone still holding out?
