Earlier this year Motorola released a new Moto X for 2014, the Moto X, and even a Moto E smartphone, but that isn’t all the company has planned. A new smartphone for Verizon is coming soon, known as the DROID Turbo.
As if we didn’t know everything about the upcoming Motorola DROID Turbo for Verizon Wireless already, another set of pictures have leaked today ahead of the unveiling which is set to be late next week.
Rumors and leaks have hinted at a new smartphone coming soon for Verizon Wireless called the Motorola DROID Turbo, and after the entire user manual revealed all the key features last week, today more official photos have leaked, painting a clear picture ahead of the October 28th announcement date.
Today the somewhat retired and popular Twitter account @evleaks revealed another photo showing both colors of the upcoming Motorola smartphone, dubbed the DROID Turbo. This smartphone has been rumored for a few months, and packs some of the best features we’ve seen inside a smartphone yet in 2014.
Just like the past few years, Verizon Wireless and Motorola have teamed up for a new DROID smartphone, only this year it looks to be the most promising yet. Borrowing features from previous models while improving across the board to be what could be the best smartphone of 2014.
We’ve seen photos before as the official Verizon @DroidLanding Twitter account accidentally posted photos early, not to mention the entire user manual leaked. That being said, with new leaks starting to arrive through more channels it looks like a release date is quickly approaching.
Carrying over some of the designs of the previous DROID phones, adding in features from the new Moto X (2014) and topping it off with a stunning screen, camera, and huge battery this phone will pack quite the punch, and last for days. Here’s the full specs, which have been confirmed more than a few times.
DROID Turbo Specs
- 5.2-inch 2560 x 1440 Quad-HD display
- 2.7 GHz Snapdragon 805 Quad-core processor with 3GB of RAM
- 32GB storage
- Android 4.4.4 KitKat (nearly stock)
- 21 Megapixel Rear and 2.1 front camera setup
- 4k video recording
- Front facing speaker
- 3,900 mAh battery (wireless charging)
- Turbo Charger Support
- Water repellent (coating guards against everyday spills and up to 20 minutes in a downpour), scratch resistant
Most likely Motorola will save a few surprises for the announcement and unveiling of the new phone, but as it stands now it appears that we know everything about it already.
The DROID Turbo has a huge 3,900 mAh battery, supports wireless charging, and using the new Motorola Turbo Charger (in the box) it will get over 8 hours of battery life in just 15 minutes on the charger. This phone will be able to last for days, and juice up in minutes if you’re in a pinch or headed out for the night after a day at work.
If the new Motorola Nexus 6 is too big, and battery life and a stunning camera is something that interests you, the DROID Turbo may be the perfect smartphone this holiday season. Motorola and Verizon will be officially announcing this new phone on October 28th, and we’re hearing it could be released on the same day, or in early November. Stay tuned for more details.
