Earlier this year Motorola released a new Moto X for 2014, the Moto X, and even a Moto E smartphone, but they aren’t quite finished just yet. A new smartphone for Verizon is coming soon, known as the DROID Turbo. And today we have additional pictures and a possible release date.

As if we didn’t know everything about the upcoming Motorola DROID Turbo for Verizon Wireless already, another set of pictures have leaked this weekend ahead of the unveiling and official launch. We’ve seen plenty of it already, but below are all the details.

Rumors and leaks have continued to tease a new smartphone coming soon for Verizon Wireless called the Motorola DROID Turbo, and after the entire user manual revealed all the key features a few weeks ago, today more official photos have leaked, painting a clear picture ahead of the October 28th announcement date.

Today we’re seeing the new Motorola DROID Turbo for Verizon Wireless completely boxed up and ready to buy. This is full retail packaging, suggesting the release date is sooner than many originally thought, and now we have evidence to back that up.

The Twitter account @Motofirmware leaked the photos shown below over the weekend. Showing off the DROID Turbo in retail boxes, complete with the new Turbo Charger that promises 8 hours of battery life after just 15 minutes on the charger, and is giving us another clear look at the phone before Motorola officially announces it tomorrow.

The DROID Turbo is set to be debuted by Motorola in New York tomorrow, October 28th, and a countdown timer on Verizon’s own DROIDDoes.com website suggests the same. Take a look at the new photos below.

However, tomorrow is just the launch and announcement date, and not the actual DROID Turbo release date. Thankfully the guys at MotoFirmware don’t just have photos, they also have sources suggesting the release date. According to sources, the DROID Turbo will be released on Verizon Wireless starting Thursday, October 30th.

Stores already have plenty in stock and are just awaiting the announcement tomorrow, then will start accepting orders for a 30th release date. So why is this such a big deal? Because the DROID Turbo is stacking up to be one of, if not the best Android smartphone of 2014. Here’s the full rundown.

DROID Turbo Specs

  • 5.2-inch 2560 x 1440 Quad-HD display
  • 2.7 GHz Snapdragon 805 Quad-core processor with 3GB of RAM
  • 32GB storage
  • Android 4.4.4 KitKat (nearly stock)
  • 21 Megapixel Rear and 2.1 front camera setup
  • 4k video recording
  • Front facing speaker
  • 3,900 mAh battery (wireless charging)
  • Turbo Charger Support
  • Water repellent (coating guards against everyday spills and up to 20 minutes in a downpour), scratch resistant
  • More

Motorola could have a few surprises up its sleeve for the announcement tomorrow, but with photos, user manuals, details and more all here already, there isn’t much else we need to know. All that was left is the release date, and that could be the 30th.

The DROID Turbo has a huge 3,900 mAh battery, supports wireless charging, and using the new Motorola Turbo Charger (in the box) it will get over 8 hours of battery life in just 15 minutes on the charger. This phone is set to have excellent battery life and features to impress potential iPhone 6 or Galaxy S5 buyers.

If the new Motorola Nexus 6 is too big, and battery life and a stunning camera is something that interests you, the DROID Turbo may be the perfect smartphone this holiday season. We’re hearing it will be $199 on contract, or a moderately priced $599 outright, which is less than the Nexus 6. Stay tuned for all the details once they arrive tomorrow afternoon.
