When you want to get up close and personal with a an object, the iPhone and other smartphone cameras often fail at capturing every detail.
You can get close, but it’s not easy to take macro photo with the iPhone 4S or phones like the Droid Incredible 4G LTE without some type of lens adapter.
The Easy-Macro is a small macro lens attached to a rubber band that snaps onto any phone, for up close and personal photos.
I’ve used the Easy-Macro with the iPhone 4S and the Droid Incredible 4G LTE and I’m very impressed with the versatility of this $15 accessory, and the results.
The flash needs to be off while using the Easy-Macro, and you’ll need to get about 1 and 1/14 inches away from the subject to take a good Macro photo. Finding the right distance is tricky at first, but after about two dozen shots I was able to find the right distance pretty easily.
The Easy-Macro works fine indoors and out, but if you plan to shoot inside you’ll want to make sure you have good lighting to capture all the details.
The biggest challenge to using the Easy-Macro is holding the phone steady. Unlike large cameras that have weight and heft, phones are relatively light and easy to shake. This caused a few missed Macro shots of a bumble bee. If you want to take a lot of Macro shots with the iPhone and the Easy-Macro I suggest looking for a case with a tripod adapter and picking up a cheap tripod or monopod to keep the phone steady while shooting.
