Fortnite Nintendo Switch Release: 3 Things to Know Now
Will we see a Fortnite Nintendo Switch release date this year? A new rumor suggests Epic is working to bring Fortnite and Fortnite Battle Royale to the Switch with a reveal at E3, but additional reports suggest that may not happen. If you are a fan of Fortnite and you want to play on the go with real controls, this is what you need to know about the Fortnite Nintendo Switch rumors.
Epic Games made $223 million from Fortnite in March, so there is a lot to be gained from bringing the popular game to another console while it is still hot, and with the game running nicely on iPhone and Android the Switch could easily run it. The cartoony nature of the game also makes it a better fit for Nintendo than PUBG on the Switch.
Fortnite Nintendo Switch Rumors
The current Fortnite Nintendo Switch rumors indicate Epic and Nintendo will announce Fortnite for the Nintendo Switch at E3 2018 including both Fortnite Battle Royale and Save the World. The two modes may release sequentially.
Fortnite Battle Royale would run the same on the Switch as on mobile and other consoles. The rumor, which comes from LeakyPandy also indicates Fortnite for the Switch will support Cross Play. The rumor is not out of thin air, but it comes with the caution that it is not a full on “this is happening” kind of leak.
Fortnite x Switch Rumor Summary
General:
-E3 Reveal
-StW and BR may release sequentiallyBR
-No substantial differences on Switch
-Features Cross-PlayStW
-Local Co-op implemented

For Save the World, expect local Co-Op and exclusive Nintendo IP in this mode. That means we could see Mario and other Nintendo style skins and gear in the game as part of a special paid pack.
According to US Gamer there are no current plans to bring Fortnite to the Switch. Matt Kim writes, “I checked in with sources close to both Nintendo and Fortnite Battle Royale and they informed me that they are not aware of any plans to announce Fortnite Battle Royale either at E3 or at this time in general.”
Fortnite Nintendo Switch Release Date Details
Even with that information it’s worth noting that Epic games moves fast. They brought the Battle Royale mode together in two months, and have been fast to port to other consoles and to mobile devices.
If Fortnite Battle Royale comes to the Nintendo Switch it makes more sense to come to the Switch soon after E3, rather than during the holidays and next year when the market will be even more crowded with Battle Royale games.
Fortnite Nintendo Switch Price
Assuming this happens, you can count on the game coming to the console for free — just like on mobile and consoles. Epic makes an incredible amount of money selling the Battle Pass and selling skins. Nintendo themed skins would invariably be a big seller.
