New Samsung Galaxy Note 4 release date information has seemingly emerged out of Korea just as Galaxy Note 4 pre-orders are set to begin ahead the device’s upcoming release.
On September 3rd, just ahead of IFA 2014 in Berlin, Germany, Samsung took the stage and announced a slew of brand new products including two new Galaxy Note models in the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge and the Samsung Galaxy Note 4. The Galaxy Note Edge, Samsung’s new curved Galaxy Note, will be out later this year while the Galaxy Note 4 release date is confirmed for October. Problem is, Samsung still isn’t talking about the release date.
That, of course, hasn’t stopped new Galaxy Note 4 release details from flowing and in the past two weeks, we’ve seen the Galaxy Note 4 release date make a ton of progress despite Samsung’s silence. International Galaxy Note 4 variants have been caught passing through the FCC and Bluetooth SIG on their way to shelves and today, the final piece of the Galaxy Note 4 U.S. release emerged.
Earlier today, we spotted the U.S. Cellular Galaxy Note 4 at the FCC which means that all five U.S. bound Galaxy Note 4 models including the AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon variants have all received clearance. With a Galaxy Note 4 release date confirmed for October, there’s a good chance that we’ll hear more about the release date, and pre-orders, in the near future.
In other parts of the world, the Galaxy Note 4 release is moving much faster. Earlier this week, UK retailer Clove began taking Galaxy Note 4 pre-orders ahead of an expected release the week of October 13th. We’ve also seen Galaxy Note 4 pre-orders spring up for the international version of the device on Amazon’s website. And it doesn’t stop there.
The international Galaxy Note 4 recently moved through the Global Certification Forum. We’ve also spotted a Chinese Galaxy Note 4 pre-order at a retailer called JD and it also looks like Korean site TWorldDirect is going to start taking pre-orders for the Galaxy Note 4 starting tomorrow. Those pre-orders pertain to the SK Telecom version of the Galaxy Note 4, a variant that’s headed to South Korea sometime in the near future, perhaps sooner than expected.
A new report from ZDNet Korea claims that Korean carriers are gearing up for an early Galaxy Note 4 release date in September and specifically, September 26th. LG U+ and KT, two other Korean operators, are reportedly mulling this release date, a date that falls outside of Samsung’s announced global October Galaxy Note 4 release date.
This would not be the first time Korean carriers pushed a flagship out early. Carriers starting selling the Galaxy S5 several days before the flagship’s global release date in April.
It appears that plans for an early Galaxy Note 4 release date are aimed squarely at the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, Apple’s new iPhone models that are scheduled to hit several countries on September 19th and several more on September 26th. Korea is not part of the initial wave of iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus release dates, so an early Galaxy Note 4 release could be to the device’s advantage.
While Korea might get the Galaxy Note 4 earlier than expected, we’ve seen nothing that suggests other regions will get the flagship early.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 release date is still looking good for October and in recent days, we’ve seen several dates pop up ahead of Samsung’s official announcements. Dutch retailers have pointed to an estimated Galaxy Note 4 release on October 10th. A more recent listing on Amazon points to October 3rd. To add to the confusion, Clove UK is saying that it expects the Galaxy Note 4 release during the week of October 13th.
The retailer doesn’t call out a specific release date which means that if Clove is spot on, consumers can expect it somewhere between October 13th to October 17th. While this applies to the UK, the UK is typically on the front lines of key Samsung releases which means that we could see a global release that week as well.
Apple’s iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are both set to arrive this Friday which means that they will almost certainly beat the Galaxy Note 4 to shelves in the U.S. and elsewhere.
The Galaxy Note 4 release date remains out of reach but we do know what to expect from the Galaxy Note 4 specs. The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 will be loaded up with new features including a new 5.7-inch Quad HD display, Snapdragon 805 processor from Qualcomm, 16MP camera with Optical Image Stabilization, new design that features plastic and metal, 32GB of storage, Android 4.4.4 KitKat, new software, and a brand new S Pen.
