Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 Update Gets Final Green Light in U.S.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean appears to have finally received its final green light in the United States as the U.S. Cellular Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update, an update that was pulled along with the AT&T Galaxy S4 update, has reappeared on U.S. Cellular’s website today with a new build for users to download.

In November, U.S. Cellular started rolling out the Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update. The update, which was loaded up with Galaxy Gear support and Samsung KNOX, replaced Android 4.2 Jelly Bean as the device’s operating system and represented the first major update to the device since its launch back in April.

Shortly after the arrival of the update, Gotta Be Mobile learned that the AT&T Galaxy S4 update had been pulled. Those familiar with Samsung’s plans also alerted us to the fact that other Galaxy S4 updates had seemingly been pulled as well, something that we were later able to confirm. One of those other updates was the U.S. Cellular Galaxy S4 update. The carrier confirmed the suspension but it did not say why Samsung halted the upgrade or why.

A few days ago, the AT&T Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 update started rolling out again though we heard nothing from U.S. Cellular. That is until today, when we noticed that the carriers website was recently updated. Up until yesterday, U.S. Cellular’s website listed the Galaxy S4 as having Android 4.2.2. Today, the carrier says that Android 4.3 is available.

Unsurprisingly, it lists a new Android 4.3 Jelly Bean build of R970TYUEMK2. This is likely similar to the I337UCUEMK2 build that AT&T rolled out to its verison of the Galaxy S4 last month. We haven’t seen the change log and Samsung’s website reveals nothing. In fact, Samsung says that the most current software is the old R970VXUAMJA build. What’s important here though is that a new Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update is available to those on U.S. Cellular.

This is the final green light for major Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean updates in the United States as AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon have all rolled out Galaxy S4 updates.

Given the issues that we’ve seen from the other Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean updates in the United States, users on U.S. Cellular will certainly want to proceed with caution. Those who wish to take the plunge can find the update by checking for an update in the device’s settings or by downloading it manually through Samsung Kies.
