The Samsung Galaxy S4 has been rumored to have a 13 mega-pixel camera, an upgrade from the 8MP camera found on the Galaxy S3. And today, it appears that a couple of potential photo samples, taken with devices though to be Galaxy S4 variants, have surfaced ahead of the device’s presumed launch in March.
Samsung’s Galaxy S4 remains one of the most heavily rumored smartphones of 2013 with rumors seeping out on a daily basis. Today, in fact, we’ve seen a number of rumors emerge with one suggesting it will employ improved battery life and better Wi-Fi and another stating that the Galaxy S4 could feature a touch free display to go along with 1080p resolution.
On the heels of those rumors now is a leak from Blog of Mobile, a Japanese language site, courtesy of SamMobile, that has picked up on a couple of images posted to Picasa that could be from two variants of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S4.
The EXIF data in the images suggests that the two images come from devices with model numbers Samsung SGH-I337 and Samsung SHV-E300S. The former, which showed up in a user agent, is thought to potentially be the AT&T Galaxy S4 and the latter, which has shown up in purported benchmarks, is thought to to be a Korean version of the Galaxy S4 for SK Telecom.
The Korean version showed up in those benchmarks alongside the rumored international version of the Galaxy S4, thought to have a model number Galaxy S4 GT-I9500. The GT-I9500 has, in fact, already shown up on Samsung’s website.
Besides the model numbers, there are a few things to glean from the images. First, the photos were not taken at full resolution so don’t expect this type of quality to be the norm. And second, we also see some Korean language in one photo along with a Samsung calendar.
Of course, EXIF data can easily be faked but given that we’ve seen these model numbers appear before, it’s certainly possible that these were shot with a Galaxy S4.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 is expected to have a 13MP camera, a quad-core processor, a display in the 5-inch range, and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, the latest from Google.
Rumors suggest Samsung will either be announcing the Galaxy S4 on March 15th or March 22nd with a release rumored for April in Europe and May or June in the U.S.
